Strawberry Hotels (formerly Nordic Choice) Summer Pass is back

3

For the last few years, Nordic Choice Hotels ran a promotion each summer where they sold a summer pass that could potentially get you some great savings. Nordic Choice has since rebranded to Strawberry Hotels, but they’re continuing to offer summer passes this year.

Strawberry Hotels summer pass promotion

The Deal

  • Strawberry Hotels is offering the following Summer Passes:
    • Buy 5 night Summer Pass for €495
    • Buy 10 night Summer Pass for €890
  • Direct link to offer.

Key Terms

  • Valid on stays June 20-August 18, 2024.

Quick Thoughts

€495 is ~$525, while €890 is ~$944, so you’re looking at paying an average of $105 or $94.40 per night respectively. Staying in Scandinavia in the summer has the potential to be expensive, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you can eke out some good value by buying one of these passes versus paying the regular cash price for a room. That said, if you’re planning on staying somewhere where Strawberry Hotels is an accommodation option, it’d be worth checking prices before buying one of these summer passes in case the regular room rate is less than ~$100 per night.

Also be sure to check the FAQs section on the offer landing page linked to above if you’re seriously considering this as there’s a list of blackout dates that apply during the summer pass validity dates. The blackout dates are broken down by city, with most cities only having a few nights where you can’t use the pass due to some kind of local event that’s being held there.

One of the great features of these summer passes is that they include complimentary breakfast at all their brands with the exception of Comfort Hotel Xpress. If you book a stay at a Clarion Collection property, you’ll also get fika (coffee and cake) and a daily evening meal included.

Strawberry also offers flexibility about how rooms are booked. For example, if you buy a 10 night pass you can book all 10 nights consecutively at the same hotel, or you can split it up across stays at two or more properties. You can even book up to three rooms at the same property if there’s a large group of you traveling.

Cheaper to buy the passes in NOK than in EUR.

The eligible property list is pretty limited, so make sure you consider if the properties and their locations really are all that desirable for your wishes and consider what the going rates can be like at properties more centrally located during the summer season when the cities are mostly emptied of of a lot of locals.

Keep in mind that Strawberry Hotels has a separate rewards program from Choice Hotels. You can earn points and elite night credits when using these passes, but they will not accrue to your Choice Privileges account, rather to a Strawberry Hotels account and only if you are signed into such account when you make your purchase. This is the same set up as when they were Nordic Choice.
