You can now redeem Bilt points for Lyft rides (but please don’t)

0

In 2023, Bilt Rewards and Lyft launched a partnership that gave Bilt members the opportunity to earn 2 points per dollar when taking Lyft rides and an additional 3 points when paying for a ride with a Bilt credit card. For most people, it doesn’t necessarily add up to much, but hey, easy points are easy points.

Now, the companies have announced that they’ve also added the ability to pay for Lyft rides directly with your Bilt points. According to the marketing, this is the first time that it’s been possible to pay for a rideshare service directly with points. That’s pretty cool.

But, you know what isn’t cool? The value proposition. When paying for Lyft rides, your Bilt points are only worth 0.7 cents each, less than half of what they’re worth according to our Reasonable Redemption Values.

The Deal

  • Bilt Rewards members who link their Lyft accounts can now pay for rides directly with their Bilt points
    • Points are only worth 0.7 cents each when used to pay for Lyft rides
  • Link to connect Bilt and Lyft accounts (Note: Frequent Miler may earn a commission if you link your Lyft account to Bilt through this hyperlink).
  • Once your accounts are linked, you’ll see the option to pay with your Bilt points at the bottom of the screen on your Lyft app when you call a ride:

Quick Thoughts

I love being able to earn Bilt points on Lyft rides without having to pay with the Bilt credit card. For me, it’s worth linking accounts for.

This new pay-with-points option? Not so much.

There’s simply no reason to redeem your Bilt points at a rate of 0.7 cents each. Bilt has a terrific portfolio of transfer partners and moving your points to almost any of them will give you far more value. Like the option to pay for Amazon purchases at the same 0.7 points each, it’s good to know about, if only to avoid accidentally using it.
