Delta Sale: As low as 37k SkyMiles round-trip to Taiwan, 42k to Australia / New Zealand

2

Delta is running a flash sale that includes Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan. Fares seem to be cheapest and most available from the West Coast, but there are options available from many airports around the US as well. Depending on the route, availability is between May and November 2025, which is late-Fall/Winter/early-Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

Prices start at 44,000 miles round-trip from the West Coast to Taipei (TPE) and 50,000 miles to Brisbane, Australia or Auckland, New Zealand. Delta now offers a 15% discount on award bookings for Delta cardholders. This 15% discount stacks with the sale, making West Coast-TPE as low as 37,400 SkyMiles for those with a Delta card.

Like most Delta sales these days, there’s a catch – the low pricing and open award availability is for basic and economy class only.

Quick Thoughts

Delta’s award pricing to can be astronomical at times, especially to the Asia-Pacific region. For example, if you want to travel in high season, many dates can price out at 150K+ SkyMiles round trip…in economy.

This award sale is therefore significantly better at only 44,000-70,000 SkyMiles round trip, depending on the departure point. The cheapest pricing is available when flying direct from the West Coast to Taipei, but Brisbane and Auckland are only 6K more expensive. Flights from the East Coast and Midwest seem to all be pricing at 10K more than those that leave from the West Coast.

Although the pricing and availability is good, the key thing to be aware that you’ll be flying in economy class. You’re looking at a -13-15 hour flight to Auckland and Sydney, which is a long time. I couldn’t sleep in economy if my life depended on it, so this fare sale isn’t for me. However, I have many friends (including some members of the FM Team) who can sleep for hours like a baby. If that’s you, this could be a heckuva deal.

Compared to the cash prices, these are really good deals if any of them work for you.

Some of the math is off, ones like this should be 51,000 for Delta cardholders, not 42,500. (Also, it’s Brisbane not Brisdane.) Thanks.

Auckland (AKL) – 60,000 SkyMiles (42,500 for Delta cardholders)
Brisdane (BNE) – 60,000 SkyMiles (42,500 for Delta cardholders)
