Alaska’s Atmos Summit Visa Premium Card is Live: Here Are The Details

215

Update 8/20/25: The Alaska Summit Visa card is now live, with the expected 100K bonus. The details are largely the same as we reported earlier, with a couple of small additions.

~~~
Earlier this year, Alaska announced that it would be releasing a premium credit card in late summer of 2025, as part of its ongoing merger with Hawaiian Airlines. The (unfortunate) name of the program, Atmos Rewards, has already been leaked, and now we’ve also received numerous juicy details about the credit card as well.
Earn an additional 100,000 bonus points and a Global 25,000-point (25K) Companion Award after spending $6,000 or more on purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account.     • 10% rewards bonus on all points earned from card purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America® account.
Quick Thoughts
It’s rare that we’re pleasantly surprised by a new card product, but this new Atmos Summit Visa looks pretty good. The 25K annual companion award for points-bookings is terrific. The ability to get one worth 100K, which would cover a round-trip business class trip to Europe from the Midwest/East Coast, after $60K in spend, will make it very tempting to put spend on the card, especially since that spend would also get you at least 60-66K redeemable and 30,000 elite-qualifying points, enough for MVP Gold status when your 10K points boost is factored in.
We don’t know yet what the mechanism will be for those certificates or whether you can supplement them with additional points towards a higher-value award, but on the surface, they look very useful.
The rest of the benefits provide a mixture of standard offerings, such as checked bags, lounge passes, and TSA Pre-check, with some pretty innovative ones, like a $50 voucher for delays or cancellations, free same-day changes, no partner award fees, and 3x earning on all foreign purchases. That last one will make it a favorite for both expats and folks who travel internationally with any frequency.
All of this seems like a good value proposition for $395/year, especially for those who frequently fly Alaska/Hawaiian and/or are looking for “Atleas” some Atmos status (because you’ll be MVP Gold Atwors). Combine that with what appears to be a triple-digit initial welcome offer, and it seems like a pretty tasty late-summer treat.
We don’t yet have an official launch date for the card, but Alaska has scheduled a “big” announcement on August 20th; odds are it will be then or shortly after.
My experience is that I registered for the 5K email back when it was live late last year. I applied the day of the release of the new card, but not using the email provided link. I already have existing bank accounts and credit cards through BofA, so I just googled it and found the link to do it.
I asked the Alaska Airlines support team via live chat when I should get the 5K bonus points, since they weren’t immediately applied to my account. They said they should land when I meet the 100K bonus spend. Apparently this question went up the ladder to a supervisor, who provided that answer.
I’m curious, though, has anybody else who did use the link already received the 5K bonus points, before doing the spend?
SteveT
I received my 5K bonus points a few days after the card approval
Vagabond Mark
3X on all overseas purchases is a homerun for me.
I’m in the same boat as several others here:
I signed up for the waitlist. Did not receive any king of confirmation email, did receive my 500 miles.
Wondering if we apply do we get the 5,000 bonus or do we need to wait for an email with a special link?
  • Can someone quote me the subject line of the email you received?
  • Can someone report if they got the 5K bonus by applying without using a special link?
Much appreciated
It’s really easy to miss the 5k stuff. Further down the email it says:
claim your bonus point offer
To thank you for pre-registering for our new premium card last year, we’re offering you an additional 5,000 bonus points when you apply within 14 days and get approved.
Vagabond Mark
Oh my gosh. Yes, totally missed it.
Thank you so much, Greg.
Vagabond Mark
And then the very next day after I applied I received a specific email to apply.
Marcie
Adding a data point as I didn’t see it when I read through the comments here – I have a current Alaska Visa card with BofA (>3 years old) and was instantly approved for the Atmos Summit card. Happy SUB’ing to all!
buddy
Yes you can get the card, but are you actually eligible for the SUB?
Marcie
Still waiting for the card to arrive, but the BoA app already shows a ‘new account bonus tracker’ associated with the card, so that’s looking like a yes to me.
AJS
Thanks for the data point! Here’s another one: I was instantly approved for the Summit card, and I just got what is now the Ascent card in May of this year.
Vince
I heard the 3x on foreign transactions is only valid Thursdays from 3pm -3am Zanzibar time
Aaron
Hmm, as an East Coaster, this seems like a SUB only card, then cancel after a year. There’s some value in the 3x dining, but aside from that, the other perks will largely go to waste.
Alberto
Just the 3x dining? The 3x on foreign spending is way more interesting!
John d
Approved 33k limit what’s up
Bob
Has anyone had an issue with not receiving a link for the extra 5k points even after registering last December? I have the email with no link but I’m certain I registered and even have the 500 points awarded as well as a screenshot of the registration but no link. When I tried someone else’s link it said I wasn’t in the system
Lea
Yes, I have the same issue. I can even see: “Plus, claim your 5,000 point premium card pre-registration” line in the email preview. But, no actual link in the body of the email. Can someone please share the link? Or is it non-generic?
Rahul
For me, there’s a section that reads “You’re first in line 100,000 bonus point offer” then a bunch of text about the extra 5,000 and offer terms.
And then an “Apply Now” button — it’s pretty much at the bottom of the email.
Bay Nomad
I registered last December and received the 500-mile bonus on January 9, as shown in my Alaska Mileage Plan activity. I have a screenshot of the registration but never received the link to apply for the extra 5k points. When I tried another member’s link, it indicated I wasn’t in the system. P2 received the invitation with the link to apply. I already sent an email to Alaska but don’t expect a reply. Any suggestions on what to do next?
It seems like it’s been happening to some other people on Reddit as well. Hopefully Alaska will reply
Also didn’t get the email even though I pre-registered and even received the 500 points. How can I get the extra 5000 points offer?
Gene
Any word of potentially relaxed application rules? I’m almost certain than SO and I are both over 7/12.
Viv
I tried at 5/12 and was declined. No previous relationship w/ BoA.
Gene
I checked my spreadsheet, and assuming that business cards are excluded, we are under 7/12. Since we are over 3/12, we’ll open new BofA checking accounts and each grab a $500 new account bonus. Maybe a week or so after opening our new checking accounts, we should be able to apply for the Atmos Summit card and be approved! Yay!
Justin
Anyone have tips for me as someone who is 7/12 right now? I applied anyway today and was denied. Am I SOL? lol.
Already have the $95 Alaska card, too. Got last December for 80k welcome offer.
whocares
open BofA savings or checking account
Arthur
just applied today and was approved.
What's up FM?
Please help me, what am I missing. I really want to dig this card. However, aside from the SUB (which many of us may not urgently need after transferring AMEX MRs), not seeing much appeal here for the $395.
-love the absence of coupons, but at the same time nothing to really offset the AF
-25K cert is conservatively worth $250, can you get more, sure. But if Greg knocked on your door selling you that cert, what would you pay?
-lounge passes – meh
-free wifi – already get that now with T-mobile and will be free for all Atmos members starting in 2026 (so 2 passes this quarter for those non T-mobile users = $16 total)
-10K status points (but not redeemable points) have no intrinsic value
-the $50 credit for flight delays expires after 48 hour. it is not like you can accumulate these in your Alaska wallet–you would have to do a dummy booking, cancel after 24 hours, then deposit in your wallet
-spending 60K gets some more tangible benefit overall as described by Tim, but at what cost? 60K elsewhere can bring a lot more value (a concept discussed many times on this blog) — like get all 3 new Atmos cards and get 260K points in SUB for a fraction of spend
-get 3x dining on Bilt (transfers to AS)
-get 5x airfare on Amex plat, etc
Gem Gal
I have been reducing applications in preparation for getting this card, but I’m similarly uninspired.
-also have Tmobile, so wifi means nothing
-the $50 delayed flight credit expires after 48 hours???! That’s crazy useless.
So basically for $395 you get:
  • 100k miles, which many of us already have plenty of
  • a 25k cert…not amazing
  • 2 lounge passes per quarter
  • “free checked bag”
  • points sharing
The “free checked bag” comes with so many stipulations:
  • primary cardholder has to BUY the ticket with the card, no award tickets
  • primary cardholder has to be traveling
  • only applies on AS or HA, not partner airlines
It’s fine for a churn but disappointed as a long term hold. Maybe with points sharing it could be worthwhile for some.
Vince
I guess the main use case is for pursuing status?
With the 10K annually, ‘shortcut’ to Gold with 60K spend, continued 0.5 status points/$ spent, etc etc.
The tangible benefits wane quickly beyond that.
the limitations on the checked bag are precious. That’s the additional carrot to pursue status (i.e. spend more on the card).
Unless there are some roundabout ways to boost foreign spend via VPNs or some other shenanigans, not sure about this card otherwise.
Gem Gal
Yes I suppose status is a reason.
One other thing to note that none of the bloggers have pointed out so far – there has been points devaluation over the last few months on HA and AS. I regularly fly west coast-Hawaii, and First has gone up from 80k to 115-150k on HA for the Hawaii route. Also regularly fly ABQ-SEA on AS F, and that has gone from 25-30k to now 45-50k each way. Not sure why no one has noticed this and mentioned that the expected points devaulation has already happened.
Andrew
I think because a majority of readers are using AS points for partner bookings not so much their own metal. Redemptions on their own flights not being great isn’t something to love but is also pretty par for the course among US airlines (and Canadian). American with lucky dynamic pricing seems to be the exception for scoring great deals on their own metal.
On the Hawaii route I do agree. I see some 70K HA business from West Coast available here and there but it used to be 80K was regular and 40K was saver (we flew 40K using Virgin Atlantic miles last year). I’m not sure I want to splurge 70K for that route. Then again it’s similar flight time as East coast to Europe and that can often run close to 70K in lie-flat business as well.
The Summit card for status I think is the primary interest. It seems like a very easy path to OneWorld Ruby at least for $20K annual spend, and with credits that mostly offset the annual fee.
Alberto
Award tickets also include the free checked bag. You just have to pay the taxes with the card.
The $50 credit is not for Alaska. You can use it at restaurants and stores for 48 hours. I think it’s great.
Rahul
I personally find the waived partner award bookings very useful — it saves my wife and I $50 total per round trip, and we take at least 2 trips using Alaska partners per year, so that’s $100 in savings.
Alberto
A couple of comments:
-Free wifi. It’d be 2 quarters this year ($32 total) + however many quarters until all planes have Starlink (and after that, we don’t know if they will replace this perk with something else).
-$50 credit. It’s not for Alaska. It’s a credit to use at restaurants or stores for 48 hours as compensation for the delay.
-You’re not mentioning its main draw (in my opinion): 3x on foreign spending. This is huge.
What's up FM?
Thanks for the follow up, good points. however consider:
-noted on the wifi, still a non critical factor for that value though, no?
-Yes, understanding that credit better at this time after the update by FM (another blog post indicated differently)
-3X foreign — that is net +1x on most other cards (e.g. Cap VX), and majority of foreign spend is transit/dining/travel/lodging etc which already has these multipliers on other cards. So unless I am missing a major MS workaround to game this from the states, not seeing this as moving the needle much for US bound customers
All in all this is an interesting/innovative card at $150-199. But not $395 (unless the companion cert was 40-50K). For me.
Alberto
Your points are totally fair. I spend a lot of time abroad, so having a 3x flat rate card for everything is amazing in my case.
What’s up FM?
And I am generally speaking from the point of view of long term keeper prospects. The SUB is a no brainer for those who need the miles (er…points)
Tim,
Can you confirm with your Alaska contact(s) if applicants will receive the extra 5000 bonus points for pre-registering if they applied and were approved through the Alaska website instead of applying through the link in the invite email that went out this morning?
Lee
Some individuals have reported receiving the extra 5000 points.
Bob
Yeah I think I screwed the pooch this morning not realizing at the time I would receive an invitation email.
Quan Tran
I has an offer in the email stay that I will get 105k of points
