A couple of years ago it was possible to subscribe to Peacock for only $5.99 per month for a Premium membership and $11.99 for a Premium Plus subscription.
Those prices increased to $7.99 and $13.99 respectively last year and prices have sadly gone up again. If you’ve been subscribing to Peacock to take advantage of a benefit on the Amex Platinum card, you might want to reevaluate your options.
As you can see in the pricing list above, the monthly price for a Premium subscription has increased to $10.99 per month; that’s almost double what it was just over a year ago. Premium Plus subscriptions meanwhile have gone up to $16.99 per month.
The annual prices have gone up substantially too, but it’s the monthly prices that’ll be most pertinent for those paying for the service with an Amex Platinum card. That’s because personal Amex Platinum cards have a Digital Entertainment Credit. After registering, you can get up to $20 back each month as a statement credit when paying for select streaming services with the card, a benefit which includes Peacock.
Due to the $20 limit, some people pay for more than one type of subscription on the same Platinum card. For example, by taking advantage of introductory pricing, you could cover the cost of a Peacock subscription, a Wall Street Journal subscription and a New York Times subscription all on the same Platinum card. Depending on the pricing for each of those, you might now need to reevaluate your options as the monthly costs might exceed $20 per month. If the difference is only a dollar or two and you get good value from having a Peacock subscription and whichever other eligible services you’ve subscribed to, paying a little extra on top each month might not be an issue. If you were only subscribing to the service because it was, in effect, free (ignoring the fact that you’re paying for the benefit as part of your card’s annual fee), paying even just a few dollars extra per month may not be worth it.
For me, having a Peacock subscription is worth it simply for the access to Premier League football/soccer. We’re now paying $10.99 per month for a Premium subscription on an Amex Platinum; a card which also has an $8 per month charge for a Wall Street Journal subscription. As a result, this Peacock price increase still puts us a dollar below the $20 limit each month, so we’re good for now. If they jack up the price in a year’s time though, we’ll have to reevaluate.

Still covered by the credit, but going to cancel just for the principle of it…. these companies jacking up the prices and just expecting people to take it…
Exactly. An example is that some of its biggest hits (eg Chicago One shows and Law & Order) are cutting an episode again this season. 22 Is few enough but now they are down to 21–and that is a simple and obvious example only. So we should pay more? Big nope. Give us more and we’ll talk.
They must really believe that people are going to sub for sports, some of which is already on broadcast. Maybe some will?
Find a student and it is $1.99
Is there anything even worth watching? I have the subscriptions with my credits and almost never use the app. Guess only of you’re a soccer fan?
Instacart+ through Chase Ink and co-branded cards provides complementary Peacock Premium membership
If you pay peakcock with a MasterCard you get a $3 monthly credit. I’ve been receiving it on my savor card
That’s too steep for my liking and they are too woke IMHO. Hard pass.
