Update 4/9/26: This increased welcome offer for the Venture Rewards card will end next Monday, on April 13, 2026. This is currently the best offer available for any Capital One personal card and ranks #4 overall on our Best Offers page for consumer card first-year value. If you’re interested in this card specifically, or the Capital One Miles ecosystem generally, it’s one to consider.

Capital One enhanced the welcome offer on the Venture Rewards card yesterday. You’ll still earn 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first three months of card membership, but you’ll now also receive a $250 Capital One Travel credit upon approval that’s valid for 12 months.

Quick Thoughts
Earning 75,000 bonus miles after $4,000 spend in the first three months was already a solid offer for this card, so it’s great that you now also get $250 to spend on the Capital One Travel portal when you’re approved for the card, which is valid for 12 months.
A nice thing about this credit is that it’s not restricted to only being redeemable for hotels or only for flights. Instead, you can redeem it for flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation rentals, activities, etc. – anything you can book via Capital One Travel.
The small print of the credit is customer-friendly too:
The Credit may be used in whole for a single purchase or in part over multiple purchases. Rewards will not be earned on the Credit. If the purchase using the Credit is canceled before Credit expiry, the Credit will be restored. An expired Credit will not be restored upon cancellation of a purchase by the Customer. A Venture card account must be open and in good standing to receive or use the Credit.
The fact that you can use it for more than one booking and that it’ll be restored if you have to cancel a reservation is better than losing the credit after cancelling (although not as good as keeping the credit after a cancellation).
If you already have a Venture Rewards card, you might be able to refer to this increased welcome offer if someone you know wants to apply for the card.
If you are approved for this card, keep an eye out for a targeted offer awarding 20x miles on your first Capital One Travel booking.

You missed the real story — this card is obsolete. There are alternatives cards that are always a better option. e.g. Bilt Palladium. > $3000 first year value, 3x on regular spend.
The story you meant to write: “Why the Capital One Venture Card is Obsolete Now”
Here is what you meant to write”THe Venture Card is Obsolete, Overtaken in all categories by Bilt”
Hey Stephen, I am planning on getting into the capitalone family of cards. I should apply for the venture card first for the bonus and then apply for the Venture X later ? If so, how long after the venture card should I wait before applying for the venture x? Thanks!
I believe you normally have to wait six months before being able to get another Capital One card. That said, Capital One cards are notoriously difficult to get approved for; some people have no problem, but many get declined even if they have an excellent credit history.
As a result, if one of these is a card you’d like to keep long term, I’d apply for that one first, even if that’s the Venture X where the welcome offer isn’t quite as high.
Appreciate the advice Stephen!
If I already have the Venture X, can I still get this card in addition? I had the VX for many years already, would definitely be able to qualify for a new SUB on this card.
For those on the more patient / risky side, this same card had the exact same 75k + $250 offer around the same time last year, then about 3 or 4 weeks later, a straight 100k points offer materialized through referral offers. There’s no guarantee, obviously, that the same will be true this year, but if I were eligible, I’d probably be waiting a few weeks to see if something similar pops up.
Cap1 does not give you a pop up saying one is not eligible for the bonus offer. Got declined with 825 FICO. Cancelling Venture X at renewal.
Can you product change to Venture X after meeting minimum spend ? This offer is better.
Credit card companies can’t increase the annual fee on personal cards in the first year, so you wouldn’t be able to do that until renewal. There’s no guarantee you’d be able to upgrade to a Venture X at renewal though; product changes with Capital One are targeted which is annoying.
It doesn’t help your readers that you have disabled comments for this article, although I am not surprised. The truth is that this card is obsolete, exceeded on all margins by the Bilt card. Your first year valuation system is broken, valuing the Bilt card at an indefensible $600, while claiming this minimal 2x card is worth twice that. A closer valuation of the Bilt Palladium is $3,000, higher than any other card on your scale.
“You have disabled comments on this article” he says while….commenting on this article.
as a reply – read the thread instead of throwing pepper spray.
Which thread are you referring to as there’s no mention of comments being closed? And comments are open above; if comments were disabled on this article, you wouldn’t have been able to reply to a comment either.
I’m guessing that if I got the Venture Card in December, I don’t get the $250 travel credit?
Is the $250 travel credit, every year? Or just for the sign up bonus?
It’s just part of the welcome bonus
I can’t get this offer if I got a bonus on the VentureX within the last 48 month, right?
“You are not eligible for this product if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Capital One Venture card or the Capital One Venture X card in the past 48 months.”
Thanks for that reminder as P2 was thinking of applying and just got the Venture X card last month.
Does anyone know how to see when I got the bonus >40 months ago? I have my CC statements from that timeframe, but it does not show rewards. And the rewards page seems to only go back a few months. I opened my Venture X on Dec 07 2021, so I probably got the bonus within a couple months, putting me close to 46-47 months right now. I do not even remember what the SUB-required spend was to know which transaction pushed me over the limit.
why not call capital one and ask them?
