United and Instacart have teamed up to offer up to 10,500 bonus MileagePlus miles after enough shopping trips and/or subscribing to Instacart+.

The Deal

  • Must be a U.S. resident, age 18+. Must hold a valid MileagePlus account and take a Qualifying Flight. Enrollment window: 7 days before and up to 14 days after your scheduled Qualifying Flight; no later than September 28, 2028, 11:59 PM PT . Non‑Instacart+ members only. Quick Thoughts

There are several different components here that you can take advantage of. If you have a domestic United flight anytime through September 28, 2028, you can get zero delivery fees via a free Instacart+ 7 day trial. That trial can be redeemed up to one week before your flight or up to a fortnight after your flight.

You can also get 500 bonus miles after linking your accounts and placing your first order. From there, if you shop an additional four times in your first eight weeks, you’ll earn 5,000 bonus miles which is a pretty good incentive.

The final potential step is an additional 5,000 bonus miles for subscribing to an annual Instacart+ membership which currently costs $99 annually. These final 5,000 miles are only available if you’ve already earned 5,000 bonus miles from the ‘four orders in eight weeks’ portion of the promo. Unless you value United miles at 2 cents per point or more, it’s not going to be worth subscribing to Instacart+ just for the sake of the bonus miles. However, if it’s a subscription you’d be interested in anyway, the value of the 5,000 bonus miles can help offset a large part of the first year’s annual fee.

Remember that quite a few credit cards – particularly many Chase credit cards – offer monthly Instacart credits and/or a free 3 month Instacart+ subscription.
