Can a Lower Credit Limit Help You Get Approved for a New Chase Card?
This post from Cardpe Diem highlights a method that I know some people have used to increase the odds of instant approvals. Keep in mind that if you don’t have large existing limits on your Chase cards, this limits some of your bargaining power on a reconsideration call. Also keep in mind the growing chorus of stories of Chase account shut downs for what they deem to be excessive opening of new accounts (with Chase or with other banks) and exercise some caution.

I keep seeing coverage of this DoNotPay website and I’ve been curious, but haven’t dug in. This excellent post from Sam Simon at Milenomics makes it clear that while an intriguing concept, this service isn’t ready for prime time. Quite frankly, I’m pretty surprised at how opaque the servie is given the leap of faith required in sharing so much information with them.
How to Maximize the Alaska Airlines Stopover on Awards to Hawaii
Scott at Travel Codex gives a nice summary on how you can maximize Alaska’s generous stopover policy on itineraries to and from Hawaii. This is especially useful if you’re based on one of the west coast hubs, but it’s a good tool to have in your belt for the right situation even if you’re based elsewhere.
Think Outside the Box: Redeem Delta Miles on This Little-Known Partner and Save on Pricey Flights!
Delta SkyMiles has never been my award program of choice and as a result, I don’t search Delta for award tickets nearly as often as I do with other airlines given the fact that it’s hard to know which Delta flights are going to show up at the saver level and I’m probably going to be using a different SkyTeam program to book in the event that I am looking at an award on a SkyTeam carrier. And so this post from Million Mile Secrets caught my eye since I wasn’t aware this partnership existed. Truth be told, I’m not sure I’d have even looked at Delta.com if I were planning travel to Canada before reading this post — but now I will.
