Both the AA and United online shopping portals are offering up to 1,000 bonus miles, as follows:
- Tier 1 bonus: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $125;
- Tier 2 bonus: 1,000 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $250 or more.
If you spend exactly $125, or $250 with either portal, the bonuses amount to 4 extra miles per dollar. Keep in mind that these bonuses are in addition to bonuses offered by each store within the portal. You do not need to use AA or United credit cards in order to earn miles through these portals.

Are these usually subtotal or after tax total thresholds?
Nevermind, portal says excluding tax and shipping.
How reliable is the AAdvantage portal for tracking purchases? I just bought my wife a 2000 bag on Saks and I’m a little nervous since I never used this portal before, unlike good ole’ reliable ebates.
I’ve had good luck with it. It used to be problematic years ago, but I think they’ve cleaned it up.
