Overview

The Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® came onto the scene in late 2025. It comes with things you would expect, like a free checked bag and priority boarding for the cardholder and companions. But with those benefits available on the $95 AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard, most will be more interested in knowing what more they get with an additional $255 spent on the annual fee for this card.

In short, this card probably doesn’t come with enough to make it compelling long-term, but the first-year bonus and benefits make it easily worth a test-drive to see whether you can eke enough value out of the card benefits to justify its place in your wallet.

Perks

The Globe card comes with:

  • 6x at AA Hotels (but keep in mind that you still only earn 1 Loyalty Point per $1 spent plus the Loyalty Points you earn through AA Hotels, you do not earn the credit card multiplier in Loyalty Points)
  • A $100 “Splurge credit”, whereby you can receive up to $100 in statement credits for purchases each year at up to two of the following merchants: AAdvantage Hotels bookings, 1stDibs, Future Personal Training, and Live Nation. Note that, unlike the Citi Strata Elite card, Best Buy is not an included option.
  • Four Admirals Club Globe passes each year, good for multiple clubs over the course of 24 hours from use
  • A $99 companion certificate, valid once per year to bring a companion for $99 plus taxes on a round-trip domestic economy class flight (subject to blackout dates and restrictions)
  • Up to 15,000 additional AAdvantage Loyalty Points per year: Earn 5,000 bonus Loyalty Points after every four qualifying American flights, for up to 15,000 bonus Loyalty Points each status qualification year
  • Up to $240 per year in Turo credit, doled out as up to $30 in statement credits for each Turo rental completed (up to $240 back per year)

Earn Miles and Loyalty Points

This card offers extra redeemable miles per dollar at restaurants and for American Airlines and AA Hotels spend.  However, regardless of the category of spend, the card earns just 1 Loyalty Point per dollar.

About AAdvantage Elite Status

This card earns both redeemable miles and Loyalty Points through spend.  You’ll earn just one Loyalty Point per dollar spent, even if the card offers extra redeemable miles.  For example, if you spend $300 on an American Airlines flight where this card offers 3x miles, you’ll earn 900 redeemable miles and 300 Loyalty Points.

Below you’ll find a summary of the benefits you can earn from Loyalty Points.  Loyalty Points are earned from March through February each year.

Citi Application Rules

  • 48 Month Rule: With most Citi cards, you can only receive a welcome offer every 48 months. This applies to the same exact card, not families of cards and is counted from the date that you receive the welcome offer, not from when you're approved.
  • Velocity Limits: Citi allows a maximum of one card per 8 days and a maximum of two cards per 65 days (includes both business and personal).
  • Inquiries: Citi is thought to be more credit inquiry-sensitive than other issuers. We've heard reports that it's difficult to be approved for a new Citi card if you've had more than 6 hard inquiries within the last 6 months. That said, data points abound of people being approved despite being above that, so it's certainly not a hard and fast rule.
  • Card Limits: Citi doesn't have a strict limit on the amount of cards that you can have, but it does place limits on the total amount of credit that they will issue you across all cards. Unfortunately, unlike most banks, Citi does not allow you to move credit from one existing card to the another card.
  • Application Status: Call (866) 606-2787 or go here to check your application status. For Costco cards, call (877) 343-4118.
  • Reconsideration: If denied, call (800) 695-5171 for personal cards or (866) 541-7657 for business cards.
