During scattered dates in the late summer and fall, we’re seeing one-way business class flights from U.S. cities to Zagreb, Croatia for as few as 30,500 miles and about $250 in taxes and fees.
The Deal
Starting with dates in September (if not sooner), we’re seeing Air France business class awards available from various U.S. cities to Zagreb, Croatia for as few as 30,500 miles and about $250 in taxes and fees. Here are some examples that we found:
- JFK to Zagreb: 30,500 miles plus $245
- Chicago to Zagreb: 31,500 miles plus $245
- Los Angeles to Zagreb: 33,000 miles plus $245
- Minneapolis to Zagreb: 38,000 miles plus $245
Above are just the cities we’ve looked at. I’m sure deals like these are available from many other U.S. cities. Note that you’ll probably have to be very flexible to snatch one of these up since dates with these deals available are scattered and limited.
Return trip prices seem to be higher. I found rates starting at 53K miles with around $300 in taxes and fees.
Quick Thoughts
38K miles, or less, is a great award rate to pay for business class to Europe. That said, it’s not anywhere near a best-ever deal. In October, 2018, during an Air France promo award deal, we saw business class flights to Europe starting at only 13,250 miles one-way! Still, if you’re interested in visiting Croatia and the dates and city pairs match up with your needs, this is a solid deal.
Note too that for the return trip you might find a better deal using different airline miles or even by booking a cash rate.

Please clarify if quarantine is needed if just going through Netherlands on a stopover to Zagreb. Thanks
Sorry I don’t keep track of that type of info
Did Air France completely ditch their flexible date award search by month when I wasn’t looking?
The calendar seems to only pop up in random situations for me. I’d love to hear a solution if anyone has one.
Yes, the option in the search box to click “you are looking for a flight around these dates” is missing. This has happened before but then it later came back. Hopefully it will return again!
Zagreb is a nice city, small enough to be readily walkable, pretty, good food (a bit heavy on the meat side but tasty), and pleasant people. English is widely spoken and Americans are generally fairly well regarded.
Thanks, guys! Snagged a pair one-way via AMS for October 2021. Hopefully can find LH F for the return!
And of course, you can skip the leg to Croatia and get to France for 30,500 miles 🙂
When traveling with carry-on only, yes. Contrary to the US, luggage would be checked all the way through to Croatia.
Some airlines will allow you to check your bag to your first stopover if you have an overnight but keep it under 24 hours.
