Capital One has joined American Express, Chase, Citi and Discover with a new promotion on Amazon offering a $20 instant discount when spending at least $80 and redeeming at least one point.

- Direct link to activation (our affiliate link).
- Direct link to enroll in Shop With Points (our affiliate link).
Key Terms
- Expires September 30, 2020.
Quick Thoughts
I’m assuming that similar to all these Amazon deals which offer a discount when redeeming at least one point, the offer will be targeted. If you’ve already enrolled a Capital One card in Shop With Points and it says you’re not targeted, try deleting it as a payment method, then adding it back on and re-enrolling with Shop With Points. You might not be able to activate the offer immediately, but hopefully within a few days the activation button will show up.
In addition to tangible items shipped and sold by Amazon, it should be possible to buy $80+ worth of gift cards to save $20. Although 25% off $80 isn’t as good as the Amex Membership Rewards offers for 20% off $250, it’s great to see Capital One being included in these types of deals as it means we’ll hopefully see similar offers semi-frequently in the future.
[…] For example, my notes included American Express adding free Uber Eats Pass as a Platinum cardholder benefit (they did), that the Wyndham, Caesars, Hilton, etc. status-match-go-round would end (Wyndham has stopped offering status matches for now) and that Capital One would be added to the ranks of bank points which could be used for Amazon’s ‘Get $x off when spending $xx and paying with at least 1 point’ type of deals (they did).
