There are new airline shopping portal promotions out today from American Airlines AAdvantage eShopping and United Mileage Plus shopping. While these portal bonuses are relatively small, it’s always worth knowing about these so you can account for the extra miles when comparing shopping portal rates. Keep in mind that while American Airlines miles earned from the purchase itself (the payout shown for the specific store you choose) count as both redeemable miles and Loyalty Points, general portal bonuses (like the extra 1,000 miles for $400 in cumulative spend across all stores) are redeemable miles only (you will not receive 1,000 Loyalty Points).

Would booking a hotel thru AA shopping for a later stay count?
Will buying gift cards from giftcards.com trigger the bonus? Or is that not allowed?
Sure it would. There’s no restriction as to which store you can or cannot buy from in order to trigger the bonus.
I should add that if you purchase gift cards, you should also check out the Capital One shopping targeted offers. I have pretty regularly been targeted for 9 to 12% back at gift cards.com.
