(EXPIRED) American Airlines Offering All AAdvantage Members A Free Gift – What’s Yours?

American Airlines has come out with a nice little promotion offering all AAdvantage members a free gift ranging from free miles to seat upgrades to an Admirals Club one-day pass and more.

If you’re planning on flying with American Airlines at least twice in January and February, it’s nice that you could earn double miles, but that’ll have limited usefulness for most people. That’s especially so in my case as I’d have to fly four times in Premium Economy or above in order to earn the bonus miles.

Quick Thoughts

Part of me wants to be cynical about aspects of this promotion, but it’s hard to fault American Airlines for giving all AAdvantage members a free gift.

It seems like 100 or 250 miles might be the most common gift received by members. Greg, his family members and my wife all received 100 miles, whereas I received 250 miles – presumably because I have Executive Platinum status received free thanks to having Hyatt Globalist status.

Nick received 1 Preferred seat coupon and a car class upgrade + double miles with Hertz which certainly has the potential for providing more value if he was able to make use of one or both of these gifts. The bonus miles gifts will be more useful for some people though because it’ll reset the clock on their miles expiring, meaning they have another 18 months before their miles are due to expire.

To access this offer, log in to your AAdvantage account at the link above which takes you directly to the Promotions tab. You should then see a link to view the registration details:

After clicking that, you’ll see the gift that you’ll receive, as well as your additional flight promotion offer. You’ll then need to click the registration link at the end of that section:

Once you’ve registered, it’ll say that you’ll need to wait up to 24 hours to see the gift on your account. That might be the case for things like a Preferred seat coupon or Admirals Club access, but my bonus miles posted immediately.
