United American Airlines Shopping Portal Bonuses 04.11.22

The Deal

Key Terms

Terms below are for the United shopping portal offer. The terms on the American Airlines portal are similar other than the spending requirement, AA’s expiry date for this promo being April 16 & the fact that AA doesn’t have in-store offers.

  • During the “Mystery Bonus” offer, which runs from 4/11/2022 through 4/20/2022 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of up to 500 MileagePlus bonus award miles on qualifying purchases made through the MileagePlus Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus Shopping in-store offers.
  • This one-time bonus award will be based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period: Earn 500 miles for qualifying purchases of at least $100 or more.
  • “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.
  • Please allow up to 10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus Shopping account.

Quick Thoughts

With these shopping portal bonuses only requiring $100 or $125 of spend, it’ll be fairly easy to earn 500 bonus miles from one or both of the portals.

United’s spending requirement of $100 is not only easier to hit because of the lower limit, but because their portal has an in-store card-linked program that’s not offered on American’s portal for some reason. The list of in-store retailers isn’t as comprehensive as those offered online, but it could still come in handy.

When it comes to the American Airlines portal, be aware that the 500 bonus miles you earn won’t earn a corresponding number of Loyalty Points, although you will earn Loyalty Points based on however many miles you earn through the portal for the purchase itself.
