Qantas, Virgin Australia, American, Delta, and United are all offering excellent prices on nonstop flights to Australia, with prices as low as $632 round trip. The cheapest prices are available from small online travel agencies listed at Skyscanner and Momondo, but you can use Google Flights to find cheap dates and then plug them in to those sites (or pay a bit more to book through major OTAs).

The Deal

  • Cheap nonstop economy class airfares from Los Angeles to Melbourne or Sydney, with prices starting at $632 round trip for travel on select dates from November to June 2019

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, you’ll find the cheapest prices via airfare metasearch site Skyscanner. Cheap flights are available on select dates from November through June 2019. Here is June 4th to June 11th from Los Angeles to Melbourne (click the images below to go to Skyscanner):

Prices are very similar from Los Angeles to Sydney — here’s a look at June 13th-20th, 2019:

Prices through Momondo start around $655 for the same dates and routes.

You can use Google Flights to find cheap dates, though you’ll find prices almost $100 more expensive. Use Google Flights to search and then Skyscanner or Momondo to book. Keep in mind that our summer is Australian winter, though it is still a popular time for Americans to travel Down Under. Sale prices are also available during Australian summer, though there is less availability in December/January than you’ll find in November/February and onward.

This is a long flight (~15 hours) in economy class, but for those who travel with a family or just want to save their miles in light of such competitive prices, this can be a good deal. If you’re looking for inspiration for your Australian vacation, see these posts:
