BJ’s Wholesale has made their Black Friday ad live a week early (if you’re not a member, don’t quit reading yet). They are offering some small discounts on Disney Gift Cards. However, the savings becomes pretty solid if you have the current Chase Offer for BJ’s Wholesale, which can score you as much as 20% off on $175 in Disney gift cards. I happen to be in the midst of planning a Disney trip, so I’m buying gift cards after publishing this post.

To get the best deal, you’ll need to have the Chase Offer that’s good for $25 back on $150 or more. That means you’ll need to buy as follows:
- 3 pack of $50 cards = $140.99
- 1 pack of $25 card = $23.49
- Total price = $164.48
- Chase Offer = -$25.00
- Net cost = $139.48 for $175 in Disney Gift Cards
That’s $35.52 off (which is 22.3% off face value). That’s a nice deal.
But what if you’re not a BJ’s Wholesale Member? You’re in luck: BJ’s offers a one year online-only membership for $10. But it gets better (I think): they offer a free day pass for online shopping to get started. In other words, as far as I can tell, you don’t even need to pay this $10. Note that I’m a member, so I’m not positive how this part works, but here is how it worked on my computer.
First, click here to see membership options.
Next, when you click to join, it then prompts you to enter your name, email address, and a password.
Finally, once you hit continue, it welcomes you to the club.
From there, I was able to see the pricing on the Disney Gift Cards, add them to my cart, and proceed to checkout. The $10 fee was not added to my order (though I did not complete the order as I do have a membership).
BJ’s membership terms indicate that signing up for online-only access automatically enrolls you in Easy Renewal (their auto-renewal program) where you get charged on the first day of the month in which your membership is set to expire. It is therefore possible that they auto-charge your credit card for the $10 membership fee the day after enrollment online. If you check out with a credit card where you’re able to set up a virtual card number, perhaps you can prevent that from charging. However, it looks like you can potentially shop for a day for free if they do not auto-charge you.
If you enroll for the online access membership, be aware that it may cost you $10 unless you cancel before they charge it. I’m just not sure. If you do pay that $10, the discount on Disney Gift Cards drops to 14.5%, which is still pretty good (though perhaps not the best you’ll do).
At any rate, this looks like a deal to me. My wife and I each have the BJ’s Wholesale offer and are planning a couple of days at Disney with our families, so this will provide a nice little discount on tickets. Note that Disney Gift Cards can apparently be combined pretty easily online and used for most purchases at the park in addition to park tickets (I’m no Disney expert, but that’s what I saw when I gave it a Google).
Finally, shopping portal terms indicate that gift card purchases are not eligible for cash back. However, since these gift cards are included in the “Holiday Gift Shop” section and Top Cash Back lists that section at 2.5% cash back, I’d probably click through the portal just in case it tracked. To be clear, I don’t know that it will — but you hit 0% of the balls at which you do not swing.

Just want you all to know this stacking with a Chase offer does not work with Disney gift cards. I made many purchases from different Chase business cards and none of them worked to get the $25 with a $150 charge. I bought 3 Disney gift cards $100, $50, and $25 to make sure my transaction was over $150 but for each order they sent it out in 3 different mailings and 3 different transactions all under $150, effectively negating getting the $25 back as it only works on one transaction. Of course from my end it’s a $150+ order but from them it’s all smaller at $94.99, $47.49 and $23.75. I called Chase and BJs, and Chase couldn’t do anything saying it was BJs and then BJs said that’s how it’s done with shipments from different places so they break it up. I hope this helps anyone else trying to get a good deal at Disney. I’m fine at least getting 6% off but it would have been nice to get the 20% we all were trying to get. With my parents and my wife and I, this happened to all of us in the same way with 8 different orders. Hope this info help.

Can I take advantage of this deal across more than one card? So, if I have the offer added to two separate cards (one Southwest Biz card and one Ink Business Cash card), can I earn the $25 off twice?
One other thing – what about the 15% surcharge for non-BJ’s members shopping online? I didn’t see anything added to my total when I bought the gift cards, but I’m hoping they don’t do this and wipe out any savings……the fine print for the pass at BJ’s website says all non-alcoholic items will carry this fee….?

Yes, you can use the Chase Offer on multiple cards if you have it synced to multiple cards.
1. Yes, Disney gift cards are easily combined online. You can have up to five registered gift cards so you can have a card for each family member.

3. Stop and shop is running a gift card deal until the 28th if one is near you. (Buy a $100 Giftcard, get $20 off your next grocery purchase)

Disney gift cards is one of my largest annual purchases. Wife and I have a Disney Vacation Club timeshare and we can pay dues with gift cards. Have been doing this for years.
As far as I can tell, you can use Disney GCs for any Disney purchase at all except to buy DVC timeshare points. Those you can buy with a credit card.
I buy over $10k in Disney GCs a year, so if anyone has any great tips for quantity, please share. I often get them at Kroger for the 4x fuel points, but there is a low limit to how much gas I use or can give away. Alternative over the years has been 5x UR at Officemax/Depot. Might be worth a trip to a BJs to buy some of those $500 GCs in person.
You could also do a 7 pack of $25 cards for a nickel cheaper 7 * 23.49 = 164.43 – 25 = 139.43 and ebates is giving 10% of at BJs right now, not sure if will work on just gift cards though, we’ll see. Either way this a helpful dent in our upcoming Disney Cruise! Thank you!

Curious what hotels you are considering. We are bringing our 4 and 3 year old to Disneyland this spring since we have a family member with an empty house but may look at DW next year. Lots of hotel options and your overall park strategy since i enjoy your analytical approach to this stuff.

My analytical approach on this one has been to task my wife with planning the Disney trip and to send her links to blog posts when I see them :-).
I won’t lie, I feel a little ashamed at how little I’ve done to maximize Disney, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day for everything. In this case, our son isn’t quite 2 years old, so he’s not going to remember much of it and we’re not super concerned about the rides since he won’t be able to go on many of them. This trip is more for all of us to enjoy his enjoyment of seeing the characters and stuff. The short form version of our strategy is that we’re going to do Magic Kingdom for a day, just hang out at Downtown Disney for a day, and maybe do a second park for a day or maybe just check out the Gaylord Palms (which looks pretty cool for Christmas). The hotel portion is something I’ll write about afterwards, but even that is something on which I made a quick decision, so this trip isn’t the big Disney adventure that most folks plan. I’m just happy to score a discount on park tickets and food since we’ve got 6 adults in the group.

The Gaylord Palms looks pretty cool I planned on booking them for two nights using SPG 35K certs but when I went back – the hotel had no space avail this was right before the peak on/off change. So ended up a different route for those nights.
Taking the family to Orlando for 10 days for my eldest daughters 20th B-day she’s a huge Disney fan – Also we’re bringing in the grandparents from Atlanta for this trip so were needing more than one room with 2 queens (and HH Diamond upgrades are not a guarantee, lol).
I did Disney/Epcot in the 70’s-80 in my youth. But living on the West Coast we do Hawaii/SW/SoCal and theme parks out here – normally I would use all miles and points but since Disney is not really a UR option anymore, you have to do CB for park tickets or discounted GC or other options.
Last summer I called in to Choice Hotels for some issue and stumbled across Bluegreen vacations/getaways (Timeshare).
With Disney tickets for two days for 4 people ages 10+ even with discounts runs about $1K with taxes before food, parking or Minnie vans (Disney’s ride hailing).
I have absolutely, no plans to buy a Timeshare (none of the destinations offered are remotely interesting and with miles and points well you know – at least with the HHHGV TS and points some deals are at least intriguing).

You should consider renting a Disney Vacation Club timeshare through a member. Best deal by far unless you want to stay offsite or in a Value like All-Star.
A deep subject, but essentially you can stay in a Deluxe for what you’d pay Disney in a Moderate. Or less.
I have been renting out my points since 2006.
If you’re going to Disney World, I might take a look at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. Right now it’s a category 3 hotel so it will only cost you 12,000 points per night.

On Black Friday Officemax/Office Depot will have $150 Happy Her gift cards on sale for $20 off plus 5X UR. If the cashier allows it, you should be able to use the Happy Her card to buy Disney gift cards at BB&B. I also remember that last year BB&B ran a deal around the middle of December where you could get a $10 BB&B gift card for every $50 of gift cards that you purchased. You could do this deal a total of 10 times.
One more idea. Sam’s Club sells Disney gift cards at a small discount. The best discount is about 4% off on the $50 gift cards. Right now there’s an AMEX offer for an additional 4X Membership Rewards at Sam’s Club. I’ve got the offer on my BBP card so I can get the 4% discount and 6X Membership Rewards at Sam’s Club from now until the end of the year.
Disney has a tool on their website for combining small gift card balances onto one card with a limit of $1000 per card.
