Quick Thoughts
As always with these types of Chase spending offers, they’re targeted. That means you might have some, all or none of the offers available on your cobranded cards. You might also have different types of offers available. For example, in the past I was targeted for a 5x offer on my Hyatt card, while my wife received an email from Chase with a unique link to enroll her Hyatt card in an offer giving 5,000 bonus points when spending $3,000. I’m not sure if there are additional offers like that this time around though beyond what’s listed above.
Points and miles aren’t created equal, so take that into consideration if you’re targeted for these offers on multiple different cards and need to prioritize where to put that spend. For example, 5x World of Hyatt points are worth far more than 5x IHG One Rewards points.
Interestingly, the offer on the Avios cards has been bumped up to 10x – in the past I think it’s always been 5x or 7x.
In addition to the direct registration pages for specific card types, there’s the generic chase.com/mybonus registration page which is worth trying too.
Q4 2023 offers are being loaded. I didn’t have anything for Q3, but now see offers on my WoH (5k points for $3k spend) and United Gateway (5x grocery, gas and Amazon). Nothing on Marriott and Freedom cards.
Generic link above activated offer on a Freedom card for $5 back on $100 spend on utilities, insurance, internet, phone, fitness, etc.
@Stephen Are 5x Bonvoy points worth more than 3x CSR points?
It all depends on how you value Bonvoy points and how you’d be redeeming the Ultimate Rewards. I think most people would prefer 3x Ultimate Rewards on the CSR, but these promos can be a good way of topping up your Bonvoy points if you wouldn’t otherwise have much of an opportunity to do that.
I have the Hyatt, Southwest (Premier), IHG (Premier) and Marriott (Boundless) cards. Offer only worked for the Marriott card, which I rarely use. MLH
Got it on SW Priority, link #1. Thank you!
Anyone know if these ever show up during the first year of card ownership? I’m 30k away from SW CP and 5x dining would go a long way towards avoiding getting a SW business card to finish it off.
@Stephen One of the excluded purchases is foreign currency. Do u think that refers to buying foreign currency or paying in a foreign currency e.g. for a meal in a restaurant in a foreign country?
It refers to buying foreign currency.
I occasionally get offers on my Freedom cards as well. It’s good to check those.
For example, I’ve got 5x on gas & groceries on my CF and CFU this quarter. I’m hoping the gas categories will stack nicely with the rotating gas category for the quarter.
+1 I also got this 5x offer on my CF. Of course, the 5x gas is already included in this quarter’s rotating 5x category. But the addition of the groceries is nice and I will use that getting Gift of College Gift Cards at my local Lucky’s.
Are we sure that these promos do not stack with the 5x in Gas/Live Entertainment rotating categories? I know the terms and conditions say total combined spend of $1500 but can you spend $1500 at gas stations/live entertainment (for the regular 5x rotating bonus) PLUS another $1500 in groceries if targeted for this promotion? I am curious how this was done in the past as I don’t recall getting this offer on any of the Chase Freedom cards.
Yes, they should stack as they’re separate spending offers.
I have 2 Freedoms; one received the targeted offer (5X at gas stations and grocery stores) and one did not. The one that got the targeted offer is receiving 9X on gas station purchases.
In Brian G’s scenario, I wonder if you would have to spend the $1500 at grocery stores first in order to get the 5X under the targeted offer, and then spend $1500 at gas stations to get 5X under the regular quarterly Freedom bonus. Otherwise, if you spend $1500 at gas stations first, you’d use up both bonuses by getting 9X at gas stations. Probably not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but worth considering.
I never get targeted for these
Do these ever show up on chase’s own business cards? (Ink series cards)
They sometimes have offers on Ink cards – you’d need to use the generic chase.com/mybonus registration page to see if you’re targeted as I’m not aware of any specific registration links for those cards right now.
I got a completely different offer on my Hyatt cc:
Spend $3,000 on purchases and you’ll earn 5,000 World of Hyatt Bonus Points with your card between July 1 and September 30, 2023—this is in addition to your usual rewards.*
I got this on one of my IHG cards. Pretty much useless. I wish I got it on my Hyatt card like you did.
