Chime is an app with a debit card tied to an online checking account without any particularly noteworthy spending bonuses. It does have some terrific new account and referral bonuses, however. This month, Chime has increased its ever-present Swagbucks offer, and it’s now $245 (24,500 SB) on new accounts. Once the Swagbucks are credited, they can be redeemed to your PayPal account as cash via a PayPal gift card. They can also be redeemed for merchant gift cards as well. I signed-up for this offer when it was 25,000 SB last year and it was easy money.
For folks that prefer earning MyPoints, the Chime bonus there is up to ~$240 (38,500 SB), so we’ve included a link to that below also.
The Deal
- Earn 24,500 SwagBucks (worth $245 when cashed out via PayPal) when clicking through and opening a new Chime account, then receiving two “direct deposits” of $200 or more.

- Earn 38,400 MyPoints (worth ~$240 when cashed out via PayPal) when clicking through and opening a new Chime account, then receiving two “direct deposits” of $200 or more.

Quick Thoughts
I don’t ever do deals that require me to actually change direct deposit information, but in most cases there are multiple options as to what the bank/service will credit as a “direct deposit.” Doctor of Credit has a very useful page listing data points of what counts as a direct deposit with Chime, and my primary bank is one whose transfers are acknowledged as DD.
The entire process takes less than five minutes and there is no hard pull. However, this screen that pops up is worth noting:
Don’t auto-agree as the bottom two options as that will enroll you in a secured credit card that you almost surely don’t need.
For folks that already have a Chime account, DOC reports that the referral bonus might stack with this $245 bonus from Swagbucks with some lucky clicking (see this comment for more). If you are able to successfully stack the Swagbucks bonus and the $100 referral bonus in-household, that’s a nice $345 checking account bonus with low requirements. Note that MyPoints is offering a bonus of about $240, but there were some failure reports on the stack with MyPoints in the DOC comments.

How long does it take for swag bucks to post? I opened it in Oct and it shows pending but hasn’t posted
$245 cash is not equivalent to $245 Swagbucks. Suggest this distinction be made in the title of these posts so others like me who have wasted enough time with Swagbucks can disregard.
How long do you keep the money in chime? I don’t see anything about it so is it safe to transfer out right after?
Anyone know if when adding PayPal account if it’s better to connect using the micro deposits which takes 2-3 or connecting instantly?
Bank of America is listed as both working and not working so that’s confusing…
Is this bonus convertable for cash if one does not have a PayPal account?
Thanks.
What is your primary bank?
can i stack this offer with a referral bonus for my player 2?
There’s been reports of successfully doing that. Check out the post and the linked Doctor of Credit comments.
since the payout is through the portal does it take longer than usual?
