Just in time for Black Friday / Cyber Monday shopping, Citi is out with a nice cardholder offer: Earn 5% back for online shopping purchases made between November 24 and 30, 2020. Registration is required.
The Deal
Eligible cardmembers get 5% back on up to $500 spend as a statement credit for online spending from November 24-30. Details:
- Visit citi.com/giving between November 16-30 to enroll.
- Make online purchases between November 24-30 to earn the credit.
- Most US-issued Citibank cards are eligible.
- If you have multiple cards, you may enroll each of them.
- Each enrolled card is eligible for up to $25 back (5% of $500)
Card eligibility details: You must have an eligible Citi credit card with an open account as of 10/23/2020 to qualify for this offer. Citi-branded consumer and small business credit cards are eligible for this offer except for Corporate, Professional, Debit, Retail cards (including, but not limited to, Best Buy, Macy’s, Home Depot, L.L. Bean, Shell, Sears) as well as authorized users of the Costco Anywhere Visa® consumer and small business cards and CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select card.
My Take
This is a nice little holiday present from Citi. I was easily able to enroll all of my and my wife’s Citi cards. The ability to get 5% back, in addition to each card’s usual rewards, is excellent. Plus, this should stack with other promos that Citi has been offering, such as Citi Prestige 5X for online and more. And, if you call Citi to ask for a retention offer, in my experience you have a good chance of getting a bonus spend offer such as earn 2 extra points per dollar, up to 35K extra points.
For those who follow Frequent Miler on the Air (What Crazy Thing Did Citi Do This Week?), it will be interesting to see if Citi ever bothers to alert their customers about this deal.
Make sure to go back in time to before the 24th so hopefully you actually get charged between the 24th and 30th. Also make sure that your order that was charged on the 30th “settles” on the 1st outside the window. Guess you just need to order 3k worth of stuff per card and return whatever doesn’t post inside the window 🙁 Well played Citibank.
[…] Citi cards: 5% back for online shopping November 24-30: Monday is the last day to take advantage of this one. I have a few miscellaneous bills that I’m hoping will code as online purchases for this deal. I’ll also reload my Amazon gift card balance a bit. That should count for sure. Frustratingly, I made one big purchase over the weekend and later found out that the item purchased was out of stock and they wouldn’t charge my card until they had the item ready to ship. This will happen, of course, after this 5% deal is long gone. UPDATE 1PM ET: I bought a $500 Marriott gift card for $425 with my Citi AT&T Access More card. I believe this will stack with the card’s usual 3X for online/travel purchases + 2X retention offer + 5% back. […]

Citi just emailed me this offer on one of my cards and when I clicked enroll, it automatically enrolled me. Then when I clicked the link again it said I was enrolled as of today. However, I enrolled all of my cards back on the 16th when this was first posted and took screenshots that said I was enrolled. So it would appear that the link provided in this post did not actually enroll us in the promotion since Citibank when clicking on an email link will tell you that you are already enrolled. This is concerning.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Same thing happened to me. Need some clarification from citi.
I think that the only problem is that the emailed registration link isn’t smart enough to know that you already enrolled through a different process. As long as it showed that you successfully registered when following the link in this post, I’m confident the promo will apply.
Got email notification of offer availability on 1 of 4 cards today lol 😉
[…] Many Citi credit cards are offering an extra 5% back for online shopping from November 24-30. That return stacks with rewards earned by taking advantage of any category bonuses. See: Citi cards: 5% back for online shopping November 24-30 […]
I enrolled, thank you. I have the Premier card. Log into your Citi account and go to “Rewards and Benefits” -> “Offers for you” and it should be at the top of the stack.
paypal key + serve online load, anyone?
The link worked for me. It continues to amaze me that Citi never tells us about these things. Frequent Miler has become my Citi relationship manager!
Do you know if online purchases using paypal would work for this?
So if it is 5x on top of the card’s normal rate, that makes the ATT Access & More 8x on online purchases? Nice assuming things code correctly.
Yep
Well, almost. It would technically be 3x TYP + 5% statement credit, not 8x/8%.
Good point
That’s nice, I don’t have it on ANY of my cards (and I have six of them).
Try again multiple times. Everyone should have this, but it doesn’t always show up first time. You can also just log into your account and look for the offers section on the site: Log into your Citi account and go to “Rewards and Benefits” -> “Offers for you” and it should be at the top of the stack. (thanks Jeff)
I wonder if this would stack with the 5x for department stores and electronic store promo I got a few days ago on Citi Rewards+. That promo said it works in store or online. This promotion said it would overlap others, but just curious.
It should stack
I have property tax bills due by the end of the month ? Would this work for online tax payments ?
I would love to know this as well!
Love to know this ..
Probably, but I don’t know for sure
Will loading your Amazon account count for this?
Yes it should
