The Citi Rewards+ card can be a very rewarding component of a multi-card Citi wallet. The card has two main perks: earnings on all purchases are rounded up to the nearest 10 points and there is a 10% rebate on all points redeemed in a calendar year (up to a maximum of 100,000 redeemed points). When paired with the Citi Premier card (and possibly the Custom Cash and/or Double Cash), that rebate alone makes it worth holding for me.
Within Citi’s portfolio of ThankYou point-earning cards, the Rewards+ is undoubtedly the least pursued. That lack of popularity may be its undoing, as Doctor of Credit is reporting a rumor (via reddit) that the card is about to be unavailable for new applications and will be discontinued.

Quick Thoughts
Doctor of Credit notes that this is a rumor, but I’ve heard it elsewhere and think that there’s probably some fire behind that smoke. Outside of the folks who try to automate thousands of 1 cent transactions in order to game the roundup perk, it’s never been a terribly popular card. Frankly, besides small transactions, there’s little reason to spend on it.
What will make me sad to see it go is that 10% points rebate. Regardless of whether you cash out Citi points or transfer them to its increasingly interesting portfolio of travel partners, maxing it out every year effectively makes it a no annual fee card with a 10K anniversary bonus. I love ThankYou points, and I love them even more when I get 10% off redemptions.
Citi is usually fairly lenient about letting current cardholders keep discontinued products, as the small army of Citi Prestige cardholders can attest to. For those that don’t already have it, but who are invested in the Citi ecosystem, that might make it worth taking a swing at in the next few days before the rumored hammer drops.

Can you pc from a double cash or custom cash?
I always find it interesting that Citi didn’t add the 10% rebate to the Citi Strata Premier. It would make a lot of sense and encourage more spend on the Citi Strata Premier if you could get 10% of those TYPs back.
I am part of the “Prestige Army”….and am hoping that the Rewards+ will ONLY be discontinued for new applicants, so I can keep getting my 10% kickback each year!
My guess is it will be rebranded to the strata select and if that doesn’t have the 10% rebate, then we can all kid that feature goodbye
How many 5 cent transactions do you think you can make before getting banned? Like paypal yourself.
Would you say this is worth a 5/24 spot to apply for this card since it may potentially get discontinued? I am investing in the citi ecosystem and it will be one of my big players in the long term
When the AA card lost the 10% rebate, the Rewards+ was born. I guess it didn’t bring in enough of those clients.
I hope this is really just a refresh or rebrand to a new Strata name. Has there been any leak of other Strata card names?
In addition to the Strata Premier, Citi has trademarked Strata Elite (in early 2023) and Strata Select (mid 2024). It has long been hypothesized that Strata Elite will be an evolution of the Prestige, but nothing has surfaced yet. I have seen some people guess that Strata Select will be a Rewards+ refresh, but we will have to wait and see.
I have 3 of them. Back when I could automate Amazon $0.50 reloads it was nice, but they shut that down, so it’s not much use to me anymore. Never heard of $0.01 transactions, but sounds like a good way to get banned.
The best reason to have the Citi R+ is the extended warranty, which is the best in the business. I buy all important electronics on the Citi R+.
The R+ EW extends the original warranty by 24 months. So, if the original warranty is 6mo, the card benefit extends this until the 30th month. If the original warranty is 24mo, the card benefit extends this until the 48th month.
The Citi DC EW doubles the original warranty by up to 24 months, only if the original warranty is no longer than 24 months. So, if the original warranty is 6mo, the card benefit extends this until the 12th month. If the original warranty is 24mo, the card benefit does not extend the original warranty at all.
If you don’t want to apply directly, you can always product change into it too.
Would they allow product changing into it even after it’s discontinued? Kinda like the Ritz card from chase
The Citi history on this is mixed. They allowed conversions to the Preferred card for years (they may still allow it?), long after direct applications were stopped. Conversions to Prestige stopped about the same time that applications did. For awhile after AT&T Access More seemed to be available via upgrade, but that seemed to be stopped years ago.
If it becomes discontinued, then who knows? As of today, I know that it is possible to product change into this card. I did so from the AAdvantage Platinum Select.
Wonder if there is truly a DP for thousands of 1-cent transactions. I’m sure Citi would shut it down really quickly. The best I do is 10 50-cent transactions every time I go to Aldi to get 100 Citi points easily. Wouldn’t want them to shut me down with a large ThankYou points balance.
