I listened to your podcast on Wednesday and was able to go into Rakuten yesterday, change from cash back to Amex points and then take advantage of the Rakuten offer (30,000 Amex Rewards points) for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in addition to the 100,000 Chase Rewards point sign up offer. That is a KILLER deal and I really want to thank you guys for pointing it out!

Awesome. I love that you got in on it in time. When the offer first appeared I thought it would be dead before the end of the day.

Just did this for an Ink Preferred. Aaand got the notice to call Chase. They did eventually approve me, but I am skeptical that I’ll get the Rakuten bonus if I wasn’t approved while in the Rakuten app.

If you applied through the Rakuten app or on the Rakuten website, you should receive the cash back / AMEX MR points, even if you were not instantly approved. It may take a few days for your shopping trip / cash back to show up in your Rakuten account.
