Citi announced a couple of weeks ago that they’d be offering a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic this month. That transfer bonus is now live.
The Deal
- Get a 30% bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Virgin Atlantic.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Offer valid February 19-March 18, 2023.
Quick Thoughts
Although it’s strange that this transfer bonus was notified so far ahead of time, it was potentially useful knowing that if you were planning on transferring points to Virgin in the near future as there was then the option of holding off until this bonus had started.
That could’ve caused a dilemma though. If you were planning on transferring points to Virgin, that likely meant you’d found award availability and wanted to jump on it. Waiting a couple of weeks for this Citi transfer bonus to begin therefore risked having that award availability disappear, so if you did hold off then hopefully the award(s) you were looking are still bookable.

This stacks nicely with the 30% off select routes when booking by feb 28
wish there was a better way to earn large amounts of TY besides organic spend.
(1) only 1 card offers large SUB and have to wait 24 months in between, minimum. (2) even their 5x card is capped at $500/ month vs ink cash (3)
All of us who got 4 on NH a couple of weeks ago are punching the air right now.
Virgin Atlantic’s “Carrier Imposed Fees” are so outrageous that they could give twice the discount and redemptions would still generally be a bad use of miles. Virgin Atlantic “free” Business/First redemptions should be thought of more as Economy fares with free upgrades . . . the cost of the fees is almost always more than just buying an Economy Ticket.
So… don’t book econ VA tickets and save the point for J or F? I mean…
