Club Carlson for Business Ending. So I gave away two free nights.

According to two different reps I spoke with recently, Club Carlson is ending their Club Carlson for Business program as of March 2018.  To be clear, I’m not referring to the Club Carlson Business Rewards Visa.  As far as I know, that credit card is sticking around long-term.  Club Carlson for Business is not that.

Club Carlson for Business is was a rewards program for businesses which made it possible to earn extra Club Carlson points for stays.  I previously wrote a number of posts on how to maximize Club Carlson point earnings with this business program.  Now, for those who followed that advice, the trick is to use up any points you’ve earned in that program before its too late.  The points earned in the Club Carlson for Business program cannot be transferred to other accounts and can’t be redeemed for gift cards or other non-stay awards.  The points can only be used for Club Carlson free nights.

Recently Award Wallet informed me that the 31,908 points in my business account will soon expire.  I contacted Club Carlson to try to move the points and learned that they couldn’t move them.  I asked about redeeming them for a charity.  No go.  I asked if I could combine points from this account with points in my personal account in order to book a room that cost more than 31,908 points.  Nope.

Free Nights Have Been Booked

When this post was first published I asked people if they wanted a free night or two (see below).  From the comments, I chose to award two free nights to Maxim Izeitbabe (maximize it babe).  Mr Maximizer will be spending his two free nights over New Years in Savannah Georgia at the Country Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway.  Congratulations!

Free Night Anyone?

I have 31,908 points that I’d like to use up before they disappear.  The points can only be used for free nights, so I’d like to give them away to readers.

Via the Club Carlson award chart (above), I believe that my 31,908 points can be used in a number of different ways:

  • 3 Category 1 nights (27K points total)
  • 2 Category 1 Premium Room nights (27K points total)
  • 2 Category 1 nights and 1 Category 1 Premium Room night (31.5K points total)
  • 2 Category 2 nights (30K points total)
  • 1 Category 2 Premium Room night and 1 Category 1 night (31.5K points total)
  • 1 Category 3 night (28K points total)

If you’re interested in getting one or more free nights that I’m giving away, please follow these instructions:

  1. Refresh this blog post in your browser to see if the free nights are still available.  I’ll update this post with a very obvious message stating what types of free nights are still available, if any.
  2. Search ClubCarlson.com for hotel nights that you want.  Make sure that a free night is actually available on the date you have in mind, and make sure that the award price is 28,000 points or less.
  3. Refresh this page again to make sure nothing has changed since step 1.
  4. Post a comment to this blog post (do not email me!) with the details of the night you’d like.  Include name of hotel, date of stay, and number of points per night required for the booking. Make sure you entered your correct email address in the email field of the comment box since I will use this to contact anyone selected.
  5. If you’d like multiple free nights (multiple Category 1 or 2 nights as shown above), please give me the full info (start date, number of nights, number of points required per night). Also let me know if you’re willing to take just one of those nights.
  6. Please do not add any info about why you should be picked.  It’s great if it is your anniversary, or if you are my #1 fan, or if the free night is for a truly needy cause.  I can’t verify any of that so it wouldn’t be fair for me to select based on those things.

That’s it.  I’ll pick one or more people to get those free nights.  Good luck!
