Quick Thoughts
Coast Hotels is a hotel chain that’s primarily on the western side of North America. The majority of their hotels are in Canada (the majority in British Columbia), but they do have properties in California, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii too.
We stayed at The Downtown in the Yukon, Canada earlier this year when in Dawson City to do the Sourtoe Cocktail. It was a perfectly nice hotel in a good location downtown which has the Sourdough Saloon downstairs which is where you do the Sourtoe Cocktail – if you dare!
Although we didn’t stay there, I did spot a Coast property in downtown Osoyoos when we were in town staying at Spirit Ridge. Although I’d prefer to stay at Spirit Ridge, staying at the Coast hotel there would likely be better value cash-wise. Osoyoos was a fun place to visit as there’s a beautiful lake, it’s a desert region (even with the lake) and there are lots of wineries in the area.
This Pink Friday sale is an excellent opportunity to save on stays at Coast properties as it’s set up favorably for guests for the most part. The BOGO pricing is based on Coast’s Flex rate which is more expensive than their member and AAA/CAA rates. Despite that, the savings can still be substantial.
The reason I think this sale is set up so favorably for guests is because you get every second night free. At first I thought that perhaps you’d only get the second night free no matter how long you stay, but the second of every two nights is free. For example, here’s what the pricing looks like when booking a four night stay.
Another way in which the sale is set up favorably for guests is that every second night is free rather than you getting 50% off the cost of every two nights. That could be notable if some nights of your stay are more expensive than others. For example, at the Coast Gateway Hotel in Seattle, here’s what the Flex rate pricing looks like over Easter weekend.
As you can see, the fourth night is a little more expensive than the first three. If you book the Pink Friday sale rate though, the two nights you pay for are $179 each – it doesn’t take into account the higher rate for that fourth night.
The sale is currently only available for Coast Rewards members – their loyalty program which is free to join. If you didn’t want to register for their loyalty program for some reason, this sale will become available for non-loyalty program members on November 29.
They have a property in Revel Stoke that has the BOGO promo for January but if I change the stay to end of Feb-March when I was planning on being there the BOGO promo goes away and is replaced by the “early bird ski” promo that is only 25% off. pretty lame
