Quick Thoughts

This is a nice little deal if you have an easy way to liquidate the Vanilla Visa gift cards. You’ll still pay a purchase fee on the Visa card ranging from $4.95-$6.95 depending on how much you load to it, so the $10 Zillions gift card more than offsets that fee. You can redeem Zillions gift cards for more than 170 different brands which includes Amazon, so it shouldn’t be too hard finding some kind of use for it.

Be aware that if you buy physical Visa gift cards, there’ll be a shipping fee too which makes this less of a good deal unless you were planning on buying the cards from TheGiftCardShop anyway.

Also be aware that purchases from TheGiftCardShop and other Incomm-run sites like VanillaGift.com don’t earn points/miles/cashback when paying with Amex cards, plus in the past they’ve coded as a cash advance on Amex cards. You’ll therefore want to pay with a different type of credit card for this deal.

This one (TheGiftCardShop $100 Visa + $10 Zillons GC) or the GiftCards.com deal ($100 Visa + $10 GiftCards.com GC), which one is better? Especially
W.r.t. using Cashback portals?

Have MSP due in less than a week from now for a Chase Ink Preferred, with $3000+ to go. Thinking of buying some Visa GC (which seems to be a MM) rather than pay 1.8% for Advance tax payment.
