File this under “interesting, but probably useless.” Bilt’s newfound ability to transfer points to Accor Live Limitless has unlocked the ability to transfer Bilt points indirectly to several airline programs that are not currently supported by direct transfers from Bilt. Unfortunately, the transfer rates are not particularly appealing. Still, this information may come in handy if/when any of these programs sponsor transfer bonuses from hotel programs (as happens now and then) or if Bilt offers a big transfer bonus to Accor.
Overview
Bilt points can now be converted 3 to 2 to Accor Live Limitless. If you use the Accor points for Accor hotel stays, this results in a Bilt point redemption value of around 1.45 cents per point (the actual value varies with the Euro to USD exchange rate at the time of redemption). But another use of Accor points is to convert the points to airline miles. Most conversions to airline miles offer particularly poor value, so I won’t discuss those here. However, there are some airlines where the conversion rate from Accor to airline miles is 1 to 1 or better:
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue: 2K to 2K
- Iberia Avios 3K to 3K
- ITA Airways Volare: 4K Accor to 5K Volare
- Qantas Frequent Flyer: 2K to 2K
- Virgin Australia Flying Club: 4K to 4K
The full list of options for converting Accor points to airline miles can be found here (click “Use my points”).
Bilt can already transfer points 1 to 1 to Air France/KLM Flying Blue and Iberia Avios, so those two options aren’t interesting. That leaves us with ITA Airways Volare, Qantas Frequent Flyer, and Virgin Australia Flying Club as three new indirect transfer partners with Bilt…
Convert Bilt to ITA Airways Volare 6K to 5K
Here’s how to convert Bilt points to ITA Airways Volare 6K to 5K:
- Convert 6K Bilt points to 4K Accor points
- Convert 4K Accor points to 5K ITA Airways Volare points
I’m not currently aware of any great uses of ITA points so I don’t recommend doing this.
Convert Bilt to Qantas Frequent Flyer 3K to 2K
Here’s how to convert Bilt points to Qantas Frequent Flyer 3K to 2K:
- Convert 3K Bilt points to 2K Accor points
- Convert 2K Accor points to 2K Qantas Frequent Flyer points
3K to 2K is not a good transfer ratio, so I don’t recommend doing this.
Convert Bilt to Virgin Australia Flying Club 6K to 4K
Here’s how to convert Bilt points to Virgin Australia Velocity 6K to 4K:
- Convert 6K Bilt points to 4K Accor points
- Convert 4K Accor points to 4K Virgin Australia Velocity points
6K to 4K is not a good transfer ratio, so I don’t recommend doing this.
Conclusion
Bilt’s newfound ability to convert points to Accor has unlocked the ability to indirectly transfer points at less than 1 to 1 transfer ratios to Qantas, Virgin Australia, and ITA Airways Volare. I don’t recommend making any of those transfers, though, unless/until big transfer bonuses make these transfers more palatable.
I don’t even think Americans can sign up for Virgin Australia, so that bad transfer ratio would really only apply to Aussie ex-pats who already have an account.
Don’t forget about bilt to Virgin to Hilton. If they have another huge transfer bonus, this becomes very attractive
lol…really cool photos!!
