Costco is once again selling 2x $50 Uber gift card multipacks for only $74.99, with the sale lasting almost an entire month.

The Deal

Key Terms

  • Offer valid June 3rd – June 8th, 2025.
  • Online – limit 2 multipacks per 14 days per membership.
  • In-store – limit 2 per transaction.

Quick Thoughts

Saving 25% on Uber gift cards is an excellent deal, especially seeing as this sale is going to be around for almost an entire month. The offer gets even better if you have an Executive membership as you’ll also earn 2% back in rewards – even on gift card purchases.

If you’ve bought Uber gift cards from Costco at their regular $79.99 price in the last 30 days, you can submit a claim online here and Costco will refund you the difference in price.

With regards to the limits, the limit of two packs every 14 days is enforced online. If you try buying again sooner than that, your order will get cancelled and that resets the 14 day timer. In-store though is another matter. You can still only buy two per transaction, but there’s nothing hard coded to prevent you from buying more in a separate transaction. If you decide to hit this offer hard, be aware that some stores might not appreciate that, so it’s probably best not to keep checking out with the same cashier. Unfortunately Costco doesn’t let you buy gift cards in the self checkout lines as that would be far more convenient.

And after picking up some giftcards with this deal, Steven is going to enjoy an almost month-long vacation from June 9th to June 16th!

Amy

Does anyone find that Uber rides seem to cost more when you have Uber credit accrued in your account-i.e. like the Amex $15.00 monthly credit. I don’t have accurate data points but it seems my rides are cheaper after I use my credit up. How do people use the gift cards? Do you pre-load the value into your account or just enter the info with each ride reservation?

UnitedEF

Use the PayPal debit card for another 5x cash back

MJZ

Not sure about May 4th but the same deal has been on since at least March.

Jeff

Can I use my father’s (not same address) costco account to buy gift cards and do it with my credit card?

Billy Bob

As long as you’re logged in as him – my mom has my login details and uses my account with her credit card from time to time.

Jeff

thank you!

Synde

Thanks for those that posted info re possible price upping and Steven’s suggestion about a work around. What I’d like to know is can the cards be used outside USA? Often times these are only for domestic travel and most my Uber travel is international. Where I live Lyft usually beats Uber price, plus I get 5x points with Lyft on my chase card. TYIA

Billy Bob

Try Grab when in Europe. My Uber balance doesn’t even show when I am out of the USA — even when I am using a VPN.

Billy Bob

Sorry: meant ‘Bolt’ and not Grab.

Gino

These Costco deals make it really hard to get the USBBAC $25 quarterly credit ‍♀️

David Arnett

You shouldn’t be recommending any Costco purchases until the Costco Board drops its DEI initiatives which are hateful and have no place in a fair and just society.

Spud

You sound triggered.

whocares

while I agree with you in principle in part…..I hate that “triggered” word. You’re UNHINGED for using it.

Geoff

HA now i’m gonna costo even harder.

Synde Manion

Hey David, Please take your politics to another site. If you are not interested in the deal, move on. I’m not here on Frequent Miler to read about your political views.

Bulls_Fan

While I agree with the sentiment (which is completely unrelated to my comment below) , I agree 100% with Synde. FM is not about anyone’s politics or opinions- it is 100% only about helping each other save/make $$$ (including Greg and his marvelous associates and the $$$ they rightly make from all of us clicking their links when it makes sense).

My bigger issue is: why do I keep loading up with Uber credits when they are apparently charging me more when I have a credit in my account????

My only rational explanation is that P2 account is cash only on Uber and I always price check (it appears to be once somewhat consistently more in my account)

Larry

I’m so glad I read the comments. I was going to pass on this deal. Now I’m buying a couple!

Theresa

Unlike most companies, Costco didn’t do DEI because it was the socially correct thing to do. They did it and still do it because it makes good sense for their business. They said their research shows that their minority shoppers like to see employees that look like them working there. Why would you fault a company for.doing that?

Jesse

I’ve seen way more disabled and elderly people working at Wal-Mart regardless of what their actual policy is. Costco workers are usually fairly young and able-bodied, so they don’t actually practice what they preach. Boycott Wal-Mart instead?

Jess

I’ve heard when you add these cards to your Uber wallet, the fares go up by 10 to 20%. Like it triggers the algorithm to increase the cost of your Ubers. anyone have experience with these cards? is this true?

Synde

Just wondering if you personally have ever switched payment methods after the fact? Or personally know someone who has? Just wondering about any glitches. Also ? about your post… you said the load the gift card after and then switch payment method. Does it matter if you load after? or is it the switching after that really matters? Thanks much. Plan to try this next time.

TravelGeek

Doctor of Credit had a post about that a few months ago, if I recall correctly.

I rarely use Uber, so I buy them for Uber Eats, which I think is not susceptible to this type of dynamic pricing. But I still have $270 in my account, so not really motivated to buy more right now.

Ajay

While UberEats does not do dynamic pricing – for some restaurants the menu prices are 20-30% more than the standard prices at that restaurant. It is probably the restaurant inflating prices to offset UberEats’ commission but UberEats allows that. As such sometimes it is better to order directly from restaurant or use DoorDash etc and avoid UberEats.

whocares

Or make a spreadsheet to delineate which restaurants have ubereats premiums.

/s

My $$ savings negated by me wasting my time analyzing this.

Just ordered from a place that has a 10% upcharge…not too bad…considering you get 30% off $47 min order. Combined with 20-25% ubereats gift card order…..so 40-45% real savings.

Jersey Mikes has a 20% up charge I think. Just realized that of late.

Restaurant nearby also has a 20% too….but my fav place thus far, prices are the same.

Gino

When ordering pickup I’ve never seen this happen. Across multiple states and from small to chain restaurants. I like to compare to menu price. Has always matched.

charles

It’s 100% true. I experienced this first hand many and the increase in fares was more than 20%. I even compared fares for the same ride at the same time with different phones, one with Uber cash balance, one without, just to make sure it was not due to surge pricing etc. What a scam! Can’t wait for the day a class action gets filed.

Andy

absolutely does not. I spend about $500/month on Uber/eats.

Not only do the rides do not go up, but the myth that you don’t get promos on uber eats is also false.

What is true, is that Uber is a shitty corporation, same as any other corporation. And their algo based on supply/demand is probably not the best. However, the fares do not go up jsut because you have a GC balance. I say this with years of data at hand…

Yashwant

What’s the best card to use for online costco purchases like these?

David B

Venmo Visa gets 3% when Grocery is your top spend category. Otherwise use a card that has a bonus for Wholesale Clubs

Gino

BofA CCR if you have preferred rewards. You can get Costco gas for the same percentage too.

UnitedEF

PayPal debit. 5x back as it does as groceries.

DrewMc

Seems like this could easily justify the $65/year membership cost fairly quickly. Do they do gift card promotions this deep frequently? I don’t ever plan to go to the warehouse, but would do these online regularly for Uber, DoorDash, Starbucks, and other gift cards if the discount was this deep.

JRG

I am a member. I mainly buy the $500 Southwest cards when they are $429, which is every month or so. And the Uber cards come up about as often. Depends on your situation of course, but I use Southwest a lot so I like the 14% off in that case.
Worth the membership price to me.

TravelGeek

My local Costco also has some other brands with about 20% discount. Local movie theater chain, some local restaurants. And occasionally Alaska Airlines.

whocares

Costco near me has a huge Ubereats and Doordash display right as you enter.
I bought a Doordash 20% set. Didn’t know they had that.

DrewMc

Good to know! I have often gotten DoorDash gift cards at office supply stores to get 5x Ultimate Rewards points, but they are sold at face value. A 20% discount is very attractive. I use a lot of DoorDash.

Kenm

Buy visa/mc gift cards at Office Depot when they are on sale. (They go on sale every month)
Buy Costco gift cards with them.
That way you get (with the discount at Office Depot) 6 pc off everything at Costco.
I did that all the time until I got the Smartly card which gets 4 pc on everything

Andy

I signed up for Costco last May. Have literally bought nothing but Uber GCs from there.

They have been 20% off since I joined, with the caveat you can’t buy more than $200 worth every 2 weeks. So basically twice a month I load up for $400 worth for $320. Then every 2 or so months they come out with this for 25% off, which you’ll be able to do twice during this period. It’s been a MASSIVE saving for me, as someone that lives in a big city and doesn’t own a car.

DrewMc

That would be my plan also. Do you buy them online? I don’t have a Costco warehouse that is convenient to visit.

Andy

as someone with no car, I’ve never stepped foot in a Costco. Quick google maps shows one about 6 miles away but an uber even at 20% off would kill my savings, and I’d need to take 2 trains and walk 1/2 hour to do public transport.

Synde

For me, the savings in gasoline prices is significant in and of itself, without adding all the other discounts. Also they have a tremendous travel clinic in their pharmacy where you can get meds for travel at a great price. See their website for more info.
