Over the past few months, Costco has been sending out targeted coupons to members good for $50 off $500 or more. I’ve seen reports of these coupons since the holiday shopping season, but I finally got one in my account and wanted to report it because the email could be easy to miss and the coupon is only valid for about two weeks.

The Deal

  • Costco is offering some members a limited-time coupon good for $50 off $500 or more on Costco.com. Check your email for a message with the subject line “Exclusive Code: Get $50 OFF An Order of $500 or More on Costco.com!” and a promo code in the body of the message.

Key Terms

  • Only valid on Costco.com.
  • Not valid in warehouse.
  • One coupon code per Costco member.
  • Ineligible purchases include: new Costco memberships, Costco membership renewals, gift of membership, Costco Shop cards, custom installation services, Same-day grocery delivery, and online-digital print orders.
  • Not valid for orders at the online Pharmacy, Costco Travel or Costco Business Delivery.
  • The merchandise total in your cart must equal $500 or more before tax and shipping to receive the $50 off.
  • The coupon code must be entered in the promo code box at checkout to be valid.
  • This offer may not be combined with any other offer or promotion.
  • Offer expires 6/27/21. (Note that this varies depending on when you receive the offer)

Quick Thoughts

As noted above, the coupon is only good for about two weeks — mine was issued this afternoon and expires on June 27, 2021. Note that this one is only valid on Costco.com, not in the warehouse. The subject line of the email is: “Exclusive Code: Get $50 OFF An Order of $500 or More on Costco.com!”. I’d have probably thought a subject line like that was spam if not for the fact that I’d read a multitude of reports at Slickdeals from people who have gotten the coupon, so I thought it was worth reporting that it is legit. The email simply has a coupon code, so you don’t need to click through the email to use it.

In my case, I was happy to receive the offer. We renewed our Costco membership a couple of months ago as we knew we would be spending about a month near a store and they have decent prices on various baby supply items we need with a 9-month-old in the house (I also felt a sliver of loyalty to them since I earned a $200 Costco gift card by adding a totally free T-Mobile line in-store last year and I later stacked that free line with a free phone offer). I’ll be happy to save fifty bucks on stuff like diapers, wipes, and that sort of thing that we’re going to buy anyway (especially when Costco often has better prices on items like those). Furthermore, since we are working on some Amex minimum spend in my household, I’m happy to pick up some easy spend and save some money doing it.Cost

I’m not aware of any type of targeting criteria or actions you can take in the hopes of being targeted, but if you’re a member it’s worth keeping an eye on your email.
