We rarely ever cover cruise deals, but this one looked interesting since I suspect it will mostly be of use for those who can take off on a whim and have the miles to fly back home: CruiseDirect.com is offering a one-way Princess Cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver for $268 all-in for two passengers for an interior room. They are advertising it as “from $59”, but with taxes it bumps up to $268 for 2 people (as the rates are based on double occupancy). Note this is a one-way cruise — I assume a re-positioning cruise getting read for Alaskan sailings. Note that this is only available for sailing on May 5th, so you’ll need to be ready to set sail without much notice.

Quick Thoughts

I’m out of my element on cruises and do not follow the industry / pricing much at all. However, for 3 nights with food / entertainment / etc, the price looked good to me. Since it is a one-way cruise on short notice, I imagine it may be of particular interest for those with the miles to easily fly back home.

While they advertise this as “$59” for the interior room, it really comes to $268 all-in for two passengers.

Keep in mind that the itinerary has no ports of call — this is really just a good deal if you enjoy the cruise atmosphere / want a quick getaway on the cheap. Also keep in mind that the cheapest price is for interior cabins. Some people hate them, some people are fine. Personally, I get seasick very easily but had an interior cabin near the middle on my one and only cruise and I was fine in the room. A plus is that it gets plenty dark at night to sleep :-).

I have no direct experience with CruiseDirect, but a number of members on Slickdeals report positive experiences.
