Daily Getaways have gone away (program discontinued)

For many years, the US Travel Association has run a promotion called “Daily Getaways” whereby they would spend a few weeks selling various travel packages, which sometimes included good deals to purchase popular hotel points and gift cards at a discount, rental car coupons, and various travel packages (many of which weren’t a great deal, though it varied). Unfortunately, the US Travel Association website indicates that this program has been discontinued, so we do not expect Daily Getaways to return for 2025.

The Daily Getaways deals used to come out around April of every year, though the schedule got thrown off significantly during the pandemic and dates hadn’t been as consistent since. Many of the “package deals” they sold were lukewarm deals at best, with many noting blackout dates that weren’t specified until after purchase, which always made me wary of those types of deals. Still, I bought Choice Privileges points a number of times through Daily Getaways and at various times also bought Marriott gift cards and both IHG and Hilton points if I remember correctly. I was never able to successfully purchase one of the comically few packages of Hyatt points that they would make available. That deal was always like buying a lottery ticket. Over the past couple of years, more and more of the fewer and fewer notable deals became lottery-esque.

All that is to say that I won’t miss Daily Getaways too much since I didn’t often find them very useful, though the chance to pick up Choice Privileges points cheaply will be missed.

This won’t be a big loss, as Daily Getaways’ offers were slowly getting worse every year. The Choice Privileges points was probably their best remaining deal, but once you could transfer from Citi Thank You to Choice at a good rate, that became less valuable. Also, the Wyndham Earner card usually made for better redemption opportunities with Wyndham Rewards, which is Choice’s most direct competitor.

This would be my least impactful bonvoy’d award option.
