There are two new, targeted Amex offers that gives 4,000 or 5,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points back on a $400 or $500 purchase of Delta gift cards. The MR bonus is “worth” $44-55 if cashed out via a Schwab American Express card or ~$60-75 if using our Reasonable Redemption Values. The fact that this is specifically aimed at gift card purchases makes the offer extremely easy to redeem.
My wife found this offer on several of her MR-earning cards, but I was 0 for 10. So, it appears to be at least somewhat targeted.
The Deal
- Targeted Amex offers for either 4,000 or 5,000 Membership Rewards back on a $400 or $500 single purchase of Delta gift cards.
- Enrollment is required and gift cards must be purchased at delta.com/giftcards/amex.
Key Terms
- Expires 8/25/24.
- Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem.
- Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards that are enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program at the time of purchase are eligible.
- Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels.
- Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Your enrollment does not extend to any other Cards that may be linked to the same Membership Rewards program account (such as Additional Cards).
- Offer valid online only at US website delta.com/giftcards/amex for e-gift cards & physical gift cards.
- Valid only on purchases made in US dollars.
- If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the additional points. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant.
- In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional Membership Rewards points if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.
- When we calculate the additional points benefit for Amex EveryDay® Card products, points awarded under this offer will not be included.
- Additional points will be credited to your Membership Rewards program account within 90 days after 8/25/24, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase.
Quick Thoughts
Usually, Delta Amex Offers are targeted at airfare purchases directly from Delta, leaving many folks to try and figure out ways to apply it to gift cards or to a future flight credit in order to capture the savings. This one is far easier, as it’s targeted specifically at gift card purchases themselves.
The offers are for a minimum $400 or $500 purchase, but it should go without saying that there’s absolutely no reason to buy more than the minimum necessary to trigger whichever offer you have.
Officially, these are good ’til 8/25/24, but Delta almost always seems to have a maximum redemption limit on their Amex offers and we often see them disappear before the expiration date. So, if you’re into this one, I’d advise getting on it sooner than later.
Found it on my Business Platinum. Not a big Delta flyer (AA & Southwest hub) so I loaded it up but will hold off on buying unless a known use actually comes up for it.
They immediately canceled my order even though the transation went through on the Amex’ side:
“We’re sorry. We were unable to process your eGift Card order from Delta.”
BBP
Same thing happened to me – any idea why?
It seems the offer is targeted to Business cards only… of course only ones earning MR points. I found it on all of our Business Platinum and Blue Business Plus 5 of 5. But not sure I would rush to jump on these. It seems it’s a bit weaker than previous offers which I’ve seen it go as high as 25% straight cash back but then that’s during covid and we may never see that again. i guess it’s as good as it can get in current environment.
It is wonderful that your player two Is so willing to invest their own time on up to the minute scanning of Amex offers. I find myself having to do that myself for my wife’s accounts.
Lol, I didn’t mean to suggest that my wife is doing the scanning herself. I was using the royal “my wife found.” 🙂
Off delta.com…codes as airline purchase (5x platinum etc)?
No, processed by cashstar
