Thrifty Traveler Premium has published an amazing fare deal first reported by Skip at Luxury Flight Club: round trip business class from New York to Scotland for under $1,100 round trip! Flat bed business class across the pound from around $1,043 round trip is a rarity, and these deals last from late summer 2021 to April 2022. You can even fly Air France or KLM for not much more. You probably can’t wait on this deal if interested, so we won’t go into a ton of detail in this post.

The Deal

  • Nonstop Delta flights from New York to Scotland are available in business class from about $1,043 round trip through April 2022 when booked through Air France or KLM. Alternatively, fly on Air France or KLM for a few bucks more
  • Direct link to search at Google Flights

Quick Thoughts

As seen above, flights on Air France and KLM are pricing similarly, which is also amazing if you’re looking to fly those airlines instead.

The best deals here appear to be only available when booking through Air France or KLM. Prices through Delta are roughly double. That might be an important distinction for those chasing Delta elite status (however, for those looking to pick up a nice haul of MQDs, booking through a partner might not be bad — KLM-marketed and operated Z class should earn MQDs based on 40% of the distance flown, which could result in around $2600 MQDs based on my understanding).

Still, at these prices, I’d think about booking first and elite status second. I can’t imagine this deal will last and I recommend holding off a few days before making any nonrefundable plans so you can make sure that the airline honors the deal as advertised.

Just keep in mind that you might not want to credit the flights to Flying Blue if you want it to be easy to keep your Flying Blue miles alive.

Lesson learned – buy now, think later.. Fiddled around trying to find the best routing, had flights in my Amex Travel “cart” (incl on DL’s A339) totaling $2,100 for 2 people, on the last page the price increased to $5k. Oh well.

I believe filed fare expired at midnight so that could be what happened.

KPM

Yup seems dead. Some ~$1.1K flights show up in the google flights search, but disappear as you click through to booking.

Michael

Not seeing these prices when i search. Maybe deal is done. Delta flight now 4K or so.

I have a possibility of a visit to northern England in July (if they open by then) but this fare doesn’t start until mid-August.

Anthony

can we book one way and use points?

philco

You’ll need to check but most likely a one way will price out a lot more than the round trip cash price. There are exceptions but that is the general rule.
