Double Elite Night Credit on Marriott Homes & Villas (Targeted, Book by 9/20, stay by 12/31)

2

Marriott Homes & Villas is out with a new “Elite Member Exclusive” promotion to earn double elite night credit on stays booked by September 20, 2024 that are completed by December 31, 2024. You must stay at least 2 nights and spend at least $1,000 to trigger this promotion, so this will unfortunately not be a path to cheap elite nights. Registration is required, so don’t forget to register first.

The Deal

  • Marriott is offering the chance for elite members to earn double elite night credits for Marriott Homes & Villas vacation rental stays booked by 9/20/24 for stays completed between September 1 and December 31, 2024. Registration is required.
  • Direct link to this deal

Key Terms

  • A “stay” is defined as two (2) or more consecutive nights spent at the same property, regardless of check-in and check-out activity.
  • Registered Marriott Bonvoy Members earn double Elite Night Credits for each eligible paid night during their stay at a participating home rental booked between September 1, 2024 (12:01 AM EST) – September 20, 2024 (11:59 PM EST) through the Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy website (“HVMB Platform”). Payment for the stay must be made in cash or credit card.
  • Stays of two (2) or more consecutive nights must be completed during the promotion earning period, beginning September 1, 2024, up to and including nights stayed on or before December 31, 2024.
  • Members will earn one bonus Elite Night Credit per eligible paid night during the stay. Bonus Elite Night Credits will be awarded to the Member’s account within three (3) to six (6) weeks (21 – 42 days) business days after checkout. Bonus Elite Night Credits will count only toward the status year in which the Elite Night Credits are posted.
  • Members earn five (5) base Points for each U.S. dollar, or the currency equivalent, on all Qualifying Charges incurred and paid for by the Member through the HVMB Platform.
  • A minimum spend for the stay is $1,000 USD (or foreign currency equivalent)
  • Charges that do not qualify for Points include, but are not limited to, taxes, booking fees, cleaning fees, security deposits, and extra add-on services purchased and/or applied to home rentals booked through the HVMB Platform.
  • Home rentals booked through third-party online retailers are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
  • Marriott Participating Brand Residences may be featured on the HVMB Platform: however, they do not participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and do not participate in this promotion.
  • Marriott branded hotels, branded residences, and Marriott Executive Apartments are not included/eligible for this promotion.
  • Award redemption stays where Points are redeemed for a portion of, or the entire stay are not eligible for the promotion.
  • Provided that the correct Marriott Bonvoy Membership Account Number is added as part of the booking process, Points will automatically appear in the Member’s Account within seventy-two (72) hours following the completion of their stay.
  • Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.
  • No points are awarded for cancellation or no-show.

Quick Thoughts

Keep a close eye on the terms here — you need to stay a minimum of two nights and spend a minimum of $1,000 to earn the bonus elite night credits.

Terms also note that the bonus elite night credits will post 3-6 weeks after the completion of the stay and that the “Bonus Elite Night Credits will count only toward the status year in which the Elite Night Credits are posted”. I find that last part a little odd — rather than the bonus elite night credits being retroactively credited based on the date of the stay, it sounds like the bonus elite night credits will post some unknown day 3-6 weeks after you complete your stay. That’s annoying for anyone hoping to reach an elite tier based on the bonus elite night credits because if you stay near the end of the year, you won’t know whether the elite night credits will post for 2024 or 2025 until the day they post )assuming that the terms are correct).

Oddly, the terms also say that you must register by July 26, 2024. However, I just now registered successfully. I assume that must be something outdated that got copied and pasted from a previous offer, but YMMV.

All that said, if you’re looking for a vacation rental and Marriott is offering a competitive deal, than bonus elite night credits will be icing on the cake. Do be sure to shop around though — vacation rentals listed through Marriott are sometimes also available through sites like Airbnb and Vrbo and prices can vary. It’s worth shopping around.

I heard this discussed on the podcast, and I have a different interpretation of “Bonus Elite Night Credits will count only toward the status year in which the Elite Night Credits are posted”. I think the sentence is referring to two different “credits.” The “Bonus Elite Night Credits” at the beginning of the sentence are the extra night credits through this promotion, while “Elite Night Credits” at the end of the sentence are the normal ENC’s that a member would earn and that would be credited on the day of checkout.

So I think that the sentence is – somewhat confusingly – just trying to say that the extra or “bonus” ENC’s will be credited to the year that the normal ENC’s were credited – meaning the day of checkout – regardless of how long the bonus ENC’s take to post to your account.

Any idea if the minimum spend requirement is before or after fees, taxes, ect?
