Earlier this year, Delta and Hilton partnered on a decent-ish promotion where you could earn 1,000 Delta SkyPennies Miles on up to to three Hilton stays.

That promotion is coming to an end, so Hilton thought it was only fair to return the favor by giving folks some Hilton Honors points when they fly Delta…only Hilton forgot to include the decent-ish part.

The Deal

  • Earn 1,000 Hilton Honors bonus points per one-way premium cabin flight on Delta (up to a maximum of 6,000 Hilton Honors points)
    • Registration required between by July 19th
    • You must register prior to booking any eligible flights
    • Applies to Comfort+, Premium Select, First Class, or Delta One flights completed by September 19, 2024
    • Must book through Delta for the promo to apply.

Quick Thoughts

The one good thing about this promotion is that it’s free to participate in and you’ll earn 1,000 Hilton Honors points on top of any other earnings you’d already have through Delta.

The bad part? All the rest. This is a pretty lame one.

Delta’s earlier promotion awarded 1,000 SkyMiles on pretty much any Hilton stay. Even if you only value those miles at around a penny each, that means you’re getting ~$10 in miles on any Hilton stay, along with whatever Hilton itself is giving you. Better than a kick in the pants.

This one only awards the points on Delta premium cabin bookings, which usually cost a decent chunk more than a regular economy ticket. Not only that, but Hilton points are worth less than half of SkyMiles (we peg them at 0.48 cents each), so you’re getting less than $5 in points for forking out the bling on a premium ticket. Oh yeah, and you can only earn a maximum of 6,000 Hilton Honors points total – they wouldn’t anyone getting carried away after all. I might take a kick in the pants.

This is kind of a bizarre promotion that doesn’t even seem to warrant the marketing budget Hilton has put behind it. In all seriousness, it’s better than nothing for folks that are paying cash for Delta premium cabins anyway…but the rest of us can go back to our regular-scheduled programming.
