Quick Thoughts
12% cashback for IHG bookings is fantastic and is pretty much as high as this rate ever gets, although Ebates did offer 13.5% on one day a year ago.
It’s not entirely clear how long this will last. Ebates has offered 12% cashback for IHG brands at various points in the past, but that’s only been for one day at a time. However, they’re currently offering triple cashback at 34 stores until February 28, with Holiday Inn Express being listed as one of those retailers.
I’m therefore not sure if all IHG’s brands will earn 12% cashback through the end of the month, or if it’ll only be Holiday Inn Express. If you’re needing to make any paid reservations (especially given the pretty lame PointBreaks list released yesterday), it’d probably be best to make your reservations today in case the rate did end up dropping tomorrow.
Most of IHG’s brands are listed on Ebates but there are a few exceptions, the most notable of which is Kimpton. That said, I think you can click through to a brand like Holiday Inn Express which is listed, make a reservation at a Kimpton and still earn the 12%. I can’t guarantee that as I’ve not booked a paid Kimpton stay before, but they’re not available on any other portal, so you won’t be missing out by trying to book via Ebates. If you were going to book a Kimpton stay, don’t forget the Amex Offer for $60 back when spending $300.

I am very curious if this includes Kimptons. Does anyone have any experience attempting this?
I made a booking just now for multiple rooms but since the reservation in months away I won’t have any feedback until late 2019!
Update: Ebates tracked the shopping trip and noted the order amount and says now that the cashback will appear 6 weeks after the trip. So far that looks favorable.
Updated Update: Ebates sent me email confirmations for the transaction saying I’d get cash back. So, I’d call it a win for now.
Greg is typically right on everything, but I don’t see brands listed in the exclusion criteria on the ebates site.
