Quick Thoughts
Earning 3,000 bonus points is a very generous reward seeing as it’s awarded per night rather than per stay (please take notes Hilton and Marriott). Even better, it’s valid not only on paid nights, but on award stays booked using points or free night certificates too.
In case you’re not familiar with Hyatt Vacation Club, the properties are like timeshares, but when booking a regular paid or award stay there you’re under no obligation to attend any kind of timeshare presentation. The accommodations come with a kitchen, living area, and more which can make it ideal for longer stays, especially if you’re traveling as a family and would appreciate the ability to make your own meals rather than incurring the cost of eating out each night.
There are 21 eligible properties which you can find on the registration page. Most of them are in the continental US, but there’s one in Hawaii, one in Puerto Rico, and one in Mexico.
Award pricing varies from property to property, but there are a handful of locations that are category 3 or 4:
- Category 3
- Hyatt Vacation Club at Desert Oasis in Cathedral City, California
- Category 4
- Hyatt Vacation Club at Piñon Pointe in Sedona, Arizona
- Hyatt Vacation Club at The Welk in Escondido, California
- Hyatt Vacation Club at The Lodges at Timber Ridge in Branson, Missouri
- Hyatt Vacation Club at Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio, Texas
Category 3 properties are bookable for 9,000, 12,000, or 15,000 points per night, while category 4 properties are bookable for 12,000, 15,000, or 18,000 points per night depending on if they’re at off-peak, standard, or peak pricing respectively. That means the net cost for booking the category 3 property could be as low as 6,000 points per night, while for the category 4 properties it could be as low as 9,000 points per night after taking into account the 3,000 bonus points per night.
If you’ve never stayed at a Hyatt Vacation Club property, another reason you might want to take advantage of this promotion is to pick up another Hyatt brand for the Brand Explorer awards. As a reminder, this is a feature of the World of Hyatt program that offers a category 1-4 free night certificate for every five Hyatt brands that you stay at. Seeing as there are so few Hyatt Vacation Club properties, earning 3,000 bonus points per night is an ideal time to collect the brand.
Another great aspect of this promotion is that even though you have to register for it by March 29, 2026, it’s valid on stays through September 29, 2026. That gives you almost a year to max out the 30,000 bonus point earning potential (i.e. 10 nights) if you wanted.
Update 10/29/25: The landing page for this promotion is a little confusing. It says that you have to complete stays by March 29, 2026, but then it also goes on to state that you have to complete stays by September 29.
We reached out to our Hyatt rep to gain clarification, but it’s only muddied the waters even further. They state that you have to be checked in by March 29, but that your stay can last up to six months if you check out by September 29. That makes zero sense because a) Hyatt promos have never worked like that, b) it contradicts the general sense of the rest of the terms and FAQs on the registration page (such as the fact that the stay is supposed to be completed by March 29 (i.e. the last check-in date should be March 28), and c) the promo is capped at 30,000 bonus points, so if you checked in on March 29, you’d max out the bonus point earning potential by the morning of April 8.
We’ve therefore pushed back on this with the rep again and are waiting to hear back with further clarification. In the meantime, it seems pretty safe to assume that you have to be checked out by March 29 at the latest for the stay to count.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something here – I’ve never stayed at a vacation club and when I search for availability for any of them the search comes up as hotel unavailable – are they really bookable without being club members?
Yes, they should be bookable on the Hyatt website or app.
I don’t understand this:
”
The 1st bullet seems to say the stay has to be completed by March 29; while the 2nd says Sept 29. Am i reading this wrong? thanks
You’re right. I’d thought the November 2-March 29 related to when you have to register, but that stays could be by September 29. Rereading that though, you’re right – that doesn’t make sense. I’ll reach out to our rep to gain clarification.
I’m thinking that Sept. 29 date in the terms is probably a mistake. I was actually thinking of a May stay at one of these properties. I guess I’ll register and make the reservation and see if they honor it.
I agree that the September 29 date seems off, but there’s certainly no harm in being registered for a stay in May just in case.
Well, I’m holding my May Cat. 4 off-peak Vacation Club nights at what would only be 9000 points, but it’s not looking promising. 🙂 Great points deals at the better Hyatts in the USA are rare these days. Hopefully, somebody can make it work in what looks like the actual promotion period.
We’ve heard back from our Hyatt rep and their reply makes things even more confusing. I’ve just updated the post, but my impression is that you have to be checked out by March 29, not September 29.
But keep in mind that Globalist benefits are significantly reduced at HVC properties, including NO waiving of resort fees. So you may end up spending quite a bit more (per night) for this line item add on, negating any benefit from staying there.
Good highlight on the exclusion. I knew HVC don’t usually grant complimentary upgrades and there is no free breakfast benefit (since there is often no restaurant or location for breakfast available at timeshare properties), but I was not aware that the Globalist resort fee waiver didn’t apply. Seems like award stays are the best play then, since award fees should still be waived on a points stay and this offer works for award nights.
Sorry Andrew but don’t think so. Per Hyatt’s T&C:
Resort, destination, or facility fees, where charged by the applicable hotel or resort, will be waived for Globalists when paying an Eligible Rate. (As described in Appendix B, resort, destination, or facility fees are waived for all Members when staying on a Free Night Award.) This benefit is not valid at Hyatt Vacation Club properties or any property for which the applicable Supplemental Terms indicate as much.
See the note about Appendix B in that section of the T&C’s though. Appendix B states:
Waiver of Resort, Destination, or Facility Fee on Free Night Awards.
Resort, destination, or facility fees, where charged by the applicable hotel or resort, will be waived for Members redeeming a Free Night Award. This benefit is not available at any property for which the applicable Supplemental Terms indicate as much. This benefit applies only to nights for which the Member has redeemed a Free Night Award. This benefit does not apply to any Room Upgrade Award, Points + Cash Award, or any non-stay award (e.g., a Dining, Spa and More Award or a Future Meeting Credit (defined in Appendix D)). In some instances, a hotel or resort may charge other fees (such as a “service fee”) that are independent of any resort, destination, or facility fee charged by that hotel or resort. Any such fees will not be waived for Members pursuant to this benefit.
And Appendix A defines Eligible Rate:
An “Eligible Rate” is defined as any room rate for a participating hotel, resort, or other property that is published by Hyatt (including rates found on hyatt.com without the application of a discount code, and Hyatt’s “Standard Rate,” “Volume Account Rates,” “Senior Citizen Rate,” Hyatt Privé rate, the monetary portion of any Points + Cash Award (as defined in Appendix B), and Hyatt friends-and-family discount rates, but excluding rates published by ALG Vacations or by Mr & Mrs Smith (each defined below) unless Hyatt expressly indicates otherwise) or, for Miraval properties, published by Miraval. A portion of an Eligible Rate may reflect taxes, service charges, gratuities, and third-party charges for certain included items, and those costs may not be eligible for points. “Ineligible Rates” are all rates other than Eligible Rates and include Free Night Awards…
Per those sections and the one you highlighted an HVC property won’t waive fees on a paid stay for Globalists because it’s an Eligible Rate, but there’s no exception for HVC on waiving the destination fee for free night awards (which are an Ineligible Rate). I’m also just basing this on data points from Reddit and elsewhere – going to try this myself as I’d like to stay at the HVC in Sedona but haven’t done so yet.
Please let us know.
