Earn up to 5 free night awards with new Hyatt promo – but there’s a catch

World of Hyatt has launched what could be a decent promotion that can earn up to five Category 1-4 free night awards for stays in Latin America and the Caribbean. But mind those wacky terms.

For every three nights that you stay at a (fairly extensive) list of participating hotels and resorts between 1/1/27 and 3/31/27, you’ll earn a free night award, up to a total of five. Sounds simple, right?

There are two catches, however. First, you have to register for the promo by 9/30/26, three months before the first eligible stay can take place. More significantly, the free nights that you earn from the promotion are only valid until 6/20/27, meaning you might have as little as three months to use them once they’re in your account.

Key Terms

Quick Thoughts

There are just over 100 properties participating in this promotion. While the lion’s share are all-inclusives (because that’s the majority of Hyatt’s footprint in Mexico and the Caribbean), there is also a smattering of normal hotels like Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, and the Unbound Collection.

On the surface, getting a free night for every three nights that you stay is an excellent promotion; after all, the awards can be used for a property costing up to 25,000 points per night now that Hyatt’s using a new award chart.

The main issue is the expiry. Normally, Hyatt-issued free night awards are valid for six months from the date of issue, an irritating policy in and of itself. However, these free night certificates have a hard expiration date of June 30th, regardless of when you earn them. The terms say that it could take 2-3 weeks to receive the award (it will probably be faster), so if your stay isn’t completed until the end of March, you could have less than three months to use your promo award. ¡No me gusta!

The other weird facet of this promo is that there’s such a long gap between registration and when the promotion actually starts, somewhere between 3 and 4 months. I imagine at least some folks won’t read all the way and assume that nights that they’re spending in November and December are going to count.

All that said, if you’re already planning to be in the area (which many are between January and March) and can use the certificates before June, it could be a very good promo, especially since award nights count towards it and paid nights will still earn normal rewards as usual on your stays.
