The World of Hyatt credit card is offering cardholders the ability to earn up to 5,000 bonus points based on card activity during the month of February. The number of points you earn will depend on how many transactions you do, but it should be pretty easy to earn this bonus if you don’t mind doing a bunch of small transactions.
The Deal
- World of Hyatt credit card holders can earn bonus points when they register and use their credit card for purchases of $1 or more between February 1, 2021 and February 28, 2021. The following numbers of transactions will qualify for a bonus:
- Make 10 purchases, get 1,000 bonus points
- Make 25 purchases, get 1,500 additional bonus points (for 2,500 points total)
- Make 50 purchases, get 2,500 additional bonus points (for 5K total bonus points)
- Direct link to register for this promotion
Key Terms
- To qualify for this bonus offer, you must register between January 28, 2021 and February 28, 2021 and use your World of Hyatt Credit Card to make a required number of purchases that are each $1.00 or more during the promotional period of February 1, 2021 to February 28, 2021.
- You will qualify for and receive 1,000 Bonus Points if you make 10 purchases, 1,500 additional Bonus Points if you make 25 total purchases (for a possible total of 2,500 Bonus Points), and 2,500 additional Bonus Points if you make 50 total purchases (for a possible total of 5,000 Bonus Points).
- Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period.
- Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after the last day of the promotional period for Bonus Points to post to your World of Hyatt account.
- “Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.
- To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is nontransferable.
Quick Thoughts
This is a creative little promo. Clearly, the idea here is to get the World of Hyatt card at the top of your wallet to be the one you get in the habit of pulling out for everything. With 50 transactions required for the full 5,000 bonus points, it could seem like a somewhat daunting challenge that would require you to move all charges over to the World of Hyatt card for a month given that it means almost two charges every day in February to get to the top level.
In my opinion, they took this a bit farther than they needed to. With fifty transactions required, I would personally be highly apt to do a bunch of $1 Amazon reloads just to keep track and be able to make sure I met the threshold. If I were doing that, I’d probably vary the charges like $1.01, $1.02, $1.03, etc in order to make it easier to count the transactions. I think it might otherwise be a pain to keep track.
Still, I’m sure they’ll get many cardholders to keep the card at the top of wallet with this. It is after all a great bonus — just as they advertise, 5K points is enough for a free night at a Category 1 Hyatt — earning that for 50 transactions of $1 or more is certainly an excellent deal.
Do make sure that you don’t forget to register for the promotion and then make your transactions between February 1 and February 28, 2021. They note that swipe, contactless, Apple Pay and other digital wallets, recurring transactions and more do indeed qualify, so it sounds like any transaction that would ordinarily earn rewards should qualify for the promotion.
DP: my points just posted for this promo.
Planning to pay $2 each on water, cable, electric and cell phone bills everyday till I reach 50. And I don’t have to step out of the house. Win, win !
My internet service provider accepts $1.00 cc payments with no fees.
Perfect. I can pay my electric bill in any amount at least $1 per payment. So I will go $1.01, $1.02,… up to $1.50 in one day. Thanks.
can you explain how to use the Amazon reload feature?
Sign in, then make sure Hyatt is your primary payment method. Then go to: accounts & lists/account/gift cards – view balance or redeem card/reload your balance. Enter an amount. Make sure you hit enter after you enter that amount. Scroll down the page to the Reload button, making certain the dollar amount matches what you entered above. Hit the yellow reload button.

Slightly off topic, but do you know when Hyatt will credit the five elite nights for old Hyatt cardholders who were converted over to the new WOH card? I’m counting on the nights for their status promo.
No, I don’t know the timeline off the top of my head. I’d guess “soon”. Keep in mind that those 5 nights do not double. I’d assume you’ll see them before mid-Feb,
Thanks, Nick. Yes, that’s my understanding as well that they simply count as a single night each.
I’m in the same boat as you, and have already had my 5 nights added. I’ve had the basic Hyatt card for a few years now and was forced transfer to the new card. I don’t actually have the WOH card yet though.
Chase Card?
Yes, Chase issues the World of Hyatt card.
Time to fire up the old auto amazon reloader
Twice a day too.
Thanks for the tip, Nick! Do you know when/if they’ll run the 5,000 bonus points for adding an additional user (AU) to a new WOH card? I canceled my legacy card and applied for the new card last month. I remember getting an AU bonus offer for the legacy card years ago.
Chase used to do that with all of their cards back in the day, but I haven’t seen a widespread AU bonus from Chase in years. I did get a 10K bonus for adding an AU on one of our Marriott cards last fall, but that email came from Marriott rather than Chase and said that Chase wasn’t responsible for it. That is to say that I certainly wouldn’t count on it coming back.
For those of you who are running mattresses, you might want to see what is on sale at the pantry down in the lobby for around $1.00 each. You’ll earn an additional minimum 450 Hyatt points for those 50 transactions.
Excellent tip, thanks.
Can somebody explain the math behind how a $1 spend earns 450 Hyatt points?
450 for 50 $1.00 separate purchases at the Hyatt gift shop or pantry. With the Hyatt credit card earn 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent at Hyatt hotels, participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World, participating Exhale locations, and eligible Lindblad Expeditions. Plus, 5 Base Points from Hyatt per eligible $1 spent for being a World of Hyatt member.
Got it. Thanks Brant!
TPG is also reporting this:
Until March 31, 2021, World of Hyatt and Hyatt Credit cardmembers can receive a $75 statement credit when they spend $250 or more on their card at a participating hotel, resort or residence in the U.S. in Hyatt’s independent collection brands.
Those brands include The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Destination Hotels and Residences and Joie de Vivre Hotels.
I haven’t seen any registration links for that and I also looked in Chase offers and nothing so far.
That offer came out on November 1st and unfortunately you had to have registered by January 5th:

When you go to the landing page now, it will no longer allow you to register.
I register for most promotions whether I think I’m going to use them or not. I wonder how I can tell if I’ve registered?
Try sending a message to the Hyatt concierge on twitter. They can usually confirm that kind of thing easily. Since that’s got to be something on the Chase end, I’m not positive if they’ll be able to confirm it, but that’s where I would start.
Ha, I had just moved the card to the back of my wallet, time to get it out again! Thanks for this, I’m registered!
Is this for the old Hyatt card as well? I registered (it only asks for your Hyatt membership number) and I know they are transitioning everyone over to the new one but I haven’t gotten any info from them on that happening for me yet.
Yeah, you can use the old one until the new one comes and your purchases will qualify (that was in the email they sent us).
