Thrifty Traveler Premium found a great deal on Premium Economy flights when flying from New York to Santiago as fares can be had starting at $395 round trip.
The Deal
- Fly round trip Premium Economy from New York to Santiago starting at $395.
Key Terms
- JFK-SCL on American Airlines.
Quick Thoughts
Thrifty Traveler spotted the lowest fares from October to December. I initially found non-stop flights starting at $291, but in the time it’s taken to write this post those non-stop flights appear to have increased to $539+. There are still flights showing on Google Flights starting at $301 round trip including a stop, but those prices increased to $400+ after selecting the flights.
The cheapest price I’ve now found to be bookable is round trip for $395 which is still a great price for Premium Economy leaving from Newark.
That price is even cheaper than it would be to take the same flights in economy (Main Cabin):
As I’ve found when trying to get screenshots for this post, the flight prices seem to be changing quickly, so if this is of interest for you it’d be best to book ASAP.
As noted by Maser Richard in the comments below, there’s currently a mandatory 10 day quarantine for anyone visiting Chile. With low fares available through the end of the year though, hopefully those restrictions will have been lifted by your travel dates.
Yes, you could briefly buy $290 nonstop premium economy tickets on AA from JFK-SCL this morning. And I did. Yesterday, some of the discount fare websites were reporting cheap connecting flights in this market — including on AA — but I was very surprised to see the nonstops get loaded this morning. I ticketed immediately for December — the latest you could travel. This is also the best time to visit Chile because it’s the end of spring/start of summer. Of course, nobody really knows if foreigners will be allowed to visit then, but I figure the odds are in my favor. If not, I just get a voucher to use for future AA flights. I’ve learned the hard way not to buy tickets on foreign airlines now: too much hassle, and too much risk.
FYI Stephen…..your picture is actually of Argentina….cause Ive been to that exact spot, thats how I know…lol
Hahaha! I tried to research if this was in Chile or Argentina and based on the description of Patagonia’s landscape it sounded like it was Chile.
Unfortunately, there is a mandatory ten (10) days of quarantine for arriving visitors (Non-Chilean).
