Quick Thoughts
15,000 miles one way is the common award pricing for these Flying Blue Promo Rewards and has the potential to be a good deal, especially if some kind of transfer bonus to Air France/KLM appears in the next few weeks. That said, be aware that the taxes and fees can be higher than some carriers (albeit not as high as some others).
In case you missed the tip, there’s a new method you can use to view the monthly award availability calendar to make it significantly easier to spot availability at a glance.
There’s a surprising amount of availability to Paris in late July/early August considering the Olympics are being held there this summer.
Having said that, although you might be able to pick up some award flights on the cheap, I imagine accommodation will be harder to come by and so it’d be worth researching that ASAP too.
Is “Europe” only CDG and AMS for purposes of that 15K deal, or are there other cities included?
CDG and AMS seem to be the easiest to come by, but I think 15k is available to other cities.
I found JFK to Prague the other day on KLM via AMS for 15k + $100, then upgraded to a Comfort Plus seat for another $100, so not bad for 35 days out. Had some leftover points on FB from a previous cancellation, so score!
