The latest set of Flying Blue Promo Rewards are out and they’re even better than usual. That’s because award flight discounts of up to 50% are available rather than the usual 25%. That, and the fact that there’s also a 25% transfer bonus from Chase to Flying Blue right now, means you can fly one-way to/from Europe from only 6,000 points + tax.

Quick Thoughts

Flying Blue Promo Rewards normally only give 25% off award flights, so it’s great to see discounts of 50% when flying to/from Montreal and Atlanta.

Montreal is potentially the best option of all seeing as one-way economy flights start at 7,500 miles. There are actual tickets bookable at that price too. Ignore the 70,000 miles listed in the tab at the top (you can’t trust Air France’s website to display that correctly) – look at all the days in the next couple of weeks where you could fly to Paris for only 7,500 miles + ~$100 in taxes and fees. (Update: To see the calendar view, leave the date field blank when initially doing a search.)

In addition to there being quite a few days available in the near future at that low pricing, there’s also a ton of availability in terms of how many people you can fly on those days. Here’s availability for 8 people in economy; the price shown is the total amount for 8 people (i.e. 7,500 * 8 = 60,000 miles).

Atlanta has some great availability to Europe too. Nearly every day this month you can fly to Paris for only 10,500 miles, with dates available in July and September too. Although the tabs below show it being more expensive in May, June and August, if you’re interested in flying to Europe from Atlanta in those months, be sure to check the dates you want as those top tabs aren’t always correct.

There are some discounted awards bookable in business class too. For example, you can fly from Prague to Montreal from only 56,500 miles one-way + ~$260 in taxes and fees every month through September.

Don’t forget that Chase is offering a 25% transfer bonus to Flying Blue right now. That means those 7,500 mile one-way flights from Montreal can be had for only 6,000 Ultimate Rewards.

The business class awards above costing 56,500 miles would only require that 46,000 Ultimate Rewards be transferred over. While that’s not a screaming deal considering Turkish or Iberia (as two examples) can require fewer transferable miles for one-way business class flights to/from Europe, it’s still a decent deal, especially if award availability with Flying Blue is better than you’re finding with other programs.

Anthony

I ended up getting 3 economy tickets for 12k each after the Chase discount from CDG-BOS with $~480 in taxes. Great deal for summer travel!

Flip

Did you book it by paying for separate one way tickets?

Anthony

Stephen, when I try to look at any city pair, NO results at all come up, including for city pairs you screenshotted. (no regular or sale fares). Any ideas why this is going on?

Linso

Thank you for sharing this promo!

Can anyone get this to work? I can see the full calendar but when I go to book I get an error message Sorry, there are no flights available for this combination of departure airport, arrival airport and travel dates. Please try again.

Thanks!

Michael

I’m getting the same error message on a lot of flights. I’ve gotten a few flights to work, but then the actual prices shown are much greater, 60k, than the prices shown on the calendar view, 15k.

joremero

what’s the trick to do full month calendar instead of single day?

mrredskin

only bookable one way? or flyingblue site that finicky? RT shows no combo, but one way searching yields results for each direction

Anthony

It’s always best to book two one-ways. You will pay slightly more in taxes, however.

WattsBarBro

Higher taxes and also two cancellation fees if it needs to be cancelled. Disagree with your theory here

Air France Dot Bomb

Air France website os a total POS. i booked tickets, could not pay the cash portion of the award, was shown a message that said I needed t call. I called, waited 90 minutes on hold. at midnight, I ae up and called back thisorning. agent could see the PNR but no details. Told me to pound sand.

Jim Lovejoy

I’ve had problems with Air France too. Then I went to the KLM website and booked the award with no problem.

Anthony

Does KLM show availability? AF is showing absolutely nothing, not even non-sale fares.

Brian

I had the same issue yesterday and today. I ended up booking through KLM but paid slightly more in taxes/fees.

ryan

Thank you for this article. In your screenshots, it seems you can view the entire calendar and see point totals for each day within. Can you please share how to get there? having trouble finding this. thanks!

Flip

Same here. How do you get the calendar view?

Flip

Edit: you have to leave the dates blank to get month view at a time. However, even if you select a date, I am constantly getting “nothing available”. Odd

traveler

Same. Getting “nothing available” on every flight.

Jed

Same, find a price on calendar view that looks good, click on it, opens to available flights. Then when I go to hit the select flight button it kicks me back to the search page saying nothing available

JC

Leave the date blank when you search.

Debbie

Just leave the dates blank in the search.

Snoozed

If you are just getting blank fields, use a different browser.
