Quick Thoughts

Are the miles worth anything? I’d say they are worth at least 1.5 clicks per hundred, so you’re coming out at least half a click ahead considering the cost in terms of wear and tear on your fingertips while you’re sitting at home. Seriously, I have no idea what S7 miles are worth or what their award chart is like, but if I pick up a free 3,000 miles maybe I’ll find out. I think United has ensured that their customers don’t feel too much incentive to credit to United given how they’ve pivoted from one customer-unfriendly policy to another over the past few weeks before finally doing the right thing on something this weekend, so maybe S7 will not only pick up some good press here but actually get a few people to credit at least a few United flights to them to gather even miles for an award ticketUpdate: Whoops, S7 is a oneworld airline. That goes to my previous point: I have no idea what these miles are worth, but maybe they’re worth more than the effort level required to earn them. Maybe. (Thanks to Gary Leff for the correction).

Note that they do say you have to allow location data to take part, so I assume they may actually be trying to make sure you are at home.

Reading the headline, it sounded like someone was giving free miles to their members for socially distancing themselves from S7, and i couldn’t believe that competition had gotten that cutthroat… Lol!
