Quick Thoughts
I was targeted for 10% back on some of my Amex cards, while my wife was targeted for 15% back on some of hers. Both of our offers were valid for spend at Kroger, but I’ve also seen some people getting targeted for similar offers at other Kroger affiliate brands like Ralphs. It’s therefore worth keeping an eye out for those as I wouldn’t be surprised if others have offers for other brands like King Soopers, Fry’s, Smith’s, etc.
Spending $100 at a grocery store shouldn’t be hard to max out organically, but if Kroger isn’t normally your grocery store of choice, you could always buy $100 of gift cards in-store to lock in the savings. Note that buying gift cards from Kroger online won’t work as payment is processed by Blackhawk Network rather than Kroger themselves. The terms exclude physical gift card purchases, but it’s very unlikely that Amex is going to be able to enforce that.

I got the offer for Kroger but we don’t have any near us in SoCal. We do have Food4Less, which is part of the Kroger family. I’m wondering if shopping there would trigger the savings?
Ralph’s is Kroger for SoCal.
My Amex offer is explicitly for Ralph’s.
Hi Rodrigo, you’re right. I did actually get it for Ralph’s but the closest one is over 15 miles from me. I have a Food4Less locally and was hoping it would work there, as they’re all part of the Kroger family.
Doesn’t this offer exclude physical gift cards?
It’s listed in the terms that it’s excluded, but in practice it’s very unlikely that they can enforce that.
