Quick Thoughts
Live Nation Concert Week kicked off yesterday with a couple of presales – one via Citi and one via Rakuten. If you missed out on those advance ticket-buying opportunities, the main sale starts today and provides excellent value because the $25 cost includes taxes and fees – costs that can usually add a substantial chunk to the end cost of concert tickets.
There are thousands of shows participating in this sale, with something for pretty much everyone no matter what kind of music genre(s) you’re into. Some Josh Groban shows are available and he’s great live. The Black Crowes are still on their Shake Your Money Maker tour where they’re playing the entirety of their debut Shake Your Money Maker album in order, along with many of their other songs later in the set. I caught them live at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado last summer and they were fantastic. Getting to hear She Talks To Angels and Wiser Time live means I can die a happy man.
Another concert I’m excited for this summer is Switchfoot and Collective Soul as they’re touring together. I bought meet & greet tickets as soon as they went on sale for far more than $25 for one of their shows this summer, but $25 all-in for regular tickets is still an excellent deal.
One of the great things about the miles and points game is that it can provide opportunities that you might not otherwise be able/willing to afford. You might not have it in your budget to fly across the country to see your favorite band when they’re not playing in a nearby city, but $25 concert tickets coupled with award flights and a category 1 Hyatt Place for the night could mean your outlay is extremely low for an experience you wouldn’t necessarily pay cash for.
There are limited $25 tickets available, so I wouldn’t wait until May 10 to see if there’s anything of interest in case the show(s) you want to catch sell out at that price point before you buy them.
Haha wasn’t planning on spending as much time looking at these as I did. Thanks for sharing Stephen, grabbed a bunch including Jack Johnson on the weekend in Austin. He’s someone I’ve always wanted to see and it never worked out, and a good excuse to go to Austin.
Awesome, have fun!
