(EXPIRED) Get 25% Bonus When Transferring Citi ThankYou Points To Qantas

Citi is offering a 25% bonus when transferring ThankYou points to Qantas. The transfer bonus is available for more than four weeks, so there’s plenty of time to decide whether to take advantage of this bonus.

Quick Thoughts

Citi ThankYou points normally transfer on a 1:1 basis, so with this bonus you’ll receive 1,250 Qantas points for every 1,000 ThankYou points that you transfer.

While Qantas doesn’t have a particularly compelling award chart, it can be good for short economy flights on American Airlines. Those usually cost 8,000 points one-way, so with this bonus you could transfer 13,000 ThankYou points to Qantas in order to book a round trip flight that’s up to 600 miles each way. Note that Qantas updated their award chart a few months ago, so some awards became more expensive. That 8,000 point sweet spot remained the same, but below is the entire chart that’s valid for flights on American Airlines, while you can find all Qantas award charts here.

Citi offered a similar transfer bonus last year and you could stack that with a separate promotion that Qantas was running that offered a 15-40% bonus when transferring credit card points. Seeing as this new transfer bonus is around for the next five weeks, it might be worth holding off on transferring anything just in case they run a similar promotion, unless you need to book flights immediately. Having said that, it might not be possible to stack offers in the future as a recent Qantas-initiated promotion had the following exclusion listed in its terms:

In the event of multiple Bonus Points transfer offers in market for the same offer period, eligible Members will be provided with the highest Bonus Points offer. For example, if a Member was eligible to be awarded 20% Bonus Points on an eligible transfer of points from a partner offer, and the Member was also eligible to receive 10% bonus points on transfer, under a Qantas offer, the higher of the two offers will apply and the Member would receive a 20% Bonus Points on their eligible Points transfer. Members are not eligible for more than one offer on one transfer. In this example the Member would not be eligible for 20% and 10% Bonus Points on the same Points transfer.

Still, it wouldn’t do any harm waiting to see if there’s an additional stackable bonus unless you have concerns about award availability drying up in the meantime.
