To celebrate the third birthday of Citi Travel, Citi is giving eligible cardholders $50 off when booking a $300+ hotel stay via Citi Travel. It also stacks nicely with any other eligible travel credits you might have on your Citi cards.

Quick Thoughts
Getting $50 off when spending $300 is a 16.67% discount if spending that exact amount; the actual percentage discount will inevitably be lower than that as it’s unlikely you’ll find a stay that’s bang on $300.
This offer is made even more appealing by the fact that it’ll stack with other eligible credits. For example, one of the benefits of the Citi Strata Premier card is a $100 discount once per calendar year when booking a $500+ hotel stay. Both that $100 discount and the $50 discount from this limited time promotion can be redeemed on the same booking as you can see below. Saving $150 on a single $500+ booking therefore makes it much more worthwhile to book a stay this way.
Somewhat similarly, the Citi Strata Elite card comes with a $300 per calendar year hotel credit on a stay of two or more nights when booked with Citi Travel. That means that if you book a $350 hotel stay of two nights or more, you could redeem both the $300 credit and the $50 credit at the same time.
Bear in mind that Citi Travel will be regarded as an Online Travel Agency (OTA) by hotel chains, so you won’t earn hotel points, receive elite status benefits, earn elite night credits, etc. That’s somewhat mitigated by the fact that—depending on which Citi ThankYou-earning card(s) you have—you could earn a decent chunk of Citi ThankYou points too. For example, the Strata Premier card earns 10X points on hotel stays booked through Citi Travel, while the Strata Elite earns 12X.
Be aware that there’s a very limited time to take advantage of this $50 discount. This promotion is only running from today through Friday (May 27-29), so you only have a couple more days after today to make use of it.
