Rakuten is offering $50 cash back, which can alternatively be taken as 5,000 Membership Rewards points, when you click the link in the Rakuten app to sign up to drive for DoorDash. Those who are new to Top Cash Back may be able to get as much as a total of $80 back. While I wouldn’t recommend signing up for this just for the points or money, we know that millions of Americans are out of work right now and DoorDash is one of the few entities out there hiring (in addition to grocery stores / instacart), so we thought this was worth posting. It looks like this is the usual payout for new driver signups, but it seemed notable in the current environment.
The Deal
- Rakuten is offering $50 cash back (which can alternatively be taken as 5,000 Membership Rewards points) when you sign up to be a DoorDash driver through the Rakuten app and make your first delivery
- Alternatively, many other portals also offer $50 cash back for signing up for DoorDash and making your first delivery
Key Terms
- For Rakuten, you must sign up via the app
- Cash back is available only on account activations after your first delivery has been completed
Quick Thoughts
Note that you’ll need to use the Rakuten app to get new driver cash back. If you’d rather not download the app and you would prefer cash over points, other cash back sites also offer $50 cash back for signing up to be a DoorDash driver and making your first delivery.
What makes the Rakuten angle appealing is that you could earn Membership Rewards points instead of cash back. If you value those points more highly than $0.01 each, that’s a better offer than $50 — though on the other hand, if you’re out of work and looking for a job like this perhaps you’ll prefer the cash back.
If you do haven’t used Top Cash Back before, consider signing up through Doctor of Credit. If you sign up for Top Cash Back and earn $10 back, you’ll get a bonus $30. That’s makes for a total of $80 after your first delivery.
Either way, this could be a good opportunity for someone who needs to make a few bucks. Again, I wouldn’t recommend leaving home and exposing yourself to unnecessary contact with others just for the cash back or points, but if you’re looking for an opportunity at the moment to help make ends meet, this could be an option. I have no idea if the regular DoorDash earnings are worth it, so I’d recommend doing some research on that end before signing up.
Doordash. A great way to meet lots of new people!
Great way to need a ventilator sooner rather than later. Unemployment, with the extra $600 per week, pays more.
