Not to be confused with the Rakuten shopping portal (which used to be called Ebates), Rakuten.com also has a shopping website. They are currently offering 20% off site-wide (up to a max discount of $60) with coupon code THANKS20 Update: The code is now BF20. You can additionally get $30 back in points when paying with a Mastercard. That makes for some great deals like the Bose QuietComfort 35 for $198 plus $30 back in points and some of the best video game console deals available today.

Quick Thoughts

Rakuten has long been a sort of Newegg-like shopping site (since before purchasing Ebates). I haven’t purchased from them in a long time because they banned me at some point for being a reseller. The ban eventually lifted, but by that point I was just out of the habit of shopping there long enough to more or less ignore them.

However, you shouldn’t ignore this sale: 20% off site-wide on a day when some items are already discounted can be a great deal. If you can stack with $30 back in points, all the better.

My one hesitation with Rakuten is quality control. Rakuten allows many third party sellers to sell via the platform. While I don’t think I ever got a fake item from Rakuten, not all sellers are created equally. Do a little research on the seller before you buy. Note that I am not vetting each seller below. I’m posting deals I see, but I’ll leave the seller research to you to check into.

Here are some example deals, though there are tons of potentially great deals (note that the following are our affiliate links):

Those are just some examples — there are tons of deals to be had. Share any great finds in the comments so other readers can take advantage of them!

All of this is great stuff. I really appreciate it and it’s the only reason I might buy something today.
