US Credit Card Guide is reporting a potential targeted offer for a signup bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points after minimum spend ($5K on purchases in the first 3 months) on the Blue Business Plus card.
How they found it
This is definitely a targeted offer — US Credit Card Guide reports having found this offer by simply logging into their Amex account. When logging into their Amex account, they received a pop-up offer. I have noticed a number of pop-up offers lately when logging into the new interface. My most common pop-up has been a prompt to enroll my Business Platinum card in Extended Payment.
That’s offer doesn’t interest me (they aren’t offering any points for enrolling), so I often just click to close it before it finishes loading. However, the moral of the story here is that it’s worth giving the site a moment to load a similar pop-up for you in case you get an offer on something like the Blue Business Plus. While we previously had an offer for a 20K signup bonus (since expired), the current public offer on this card has no sign up bonus. With 2X everywhere on the first $50K in spend (and 3X possible at many stores through the end of this year when you add the offers found here) combined with no annual fee and the ability to transfer points to partners, the card offers excellent value for everyday spend. A signup bonus is icing on the cake.
Bottom line
If you’re interested in the Blue Business Plus and haven’t logged into your Amex account for a while (or have been using the old interface), it’s worth logging in to see if you get targeted for a signup bonus offer.
I got offered 10K to enroll in this Extended Payment Option.
Any reason not to sign up?
I’d take it. I’ve heard some rumblings before about it potentially leading to financial review, but those grumbles have been fairly few and far between. I imagine financial review is a lot more complex than that. I’ll take the points if and when I get offered 10K for the extended payment option.
I got in on the Blue Business card two months ago, when the 20K point bonus offer was in effect. After meeting the minimum spend the first month, I noticed that I had 26K MR points “Pending.” Today the second statement posted, with the points still “Pending.”
I’ve read that this sort of delay is somewhat normal with Amex, but that doesn’t make it any less aggravating.
